Are You ‘High’ on Hub Pages?

Here’s a quick update on the latest tool I’m using to expand my web of internet content. I’ve been blogging a little less lately because I’m learning about all these other incredible content building resources.

A blog is fabulous but you want to get it linking up with other content all over the place. It’s best to keep things as interesting and valuable for your blog readers as possible because you don’t want them dosing off now do you?

So what’s a Hug Page?

It’s like a Squidoo Page on steroids! I blogged about Squidoo Pages recently so you can scroll back to latest posts if you want more info on that.

Hub Pages showcase and allow you to utilise Web 2.0 at its very best, in my opinion.

Last week I had no idea how to make a Hub Page and a couple of days into it I am the proud owner of 2 shiny hub pages. Check out my Hub Pages and profile here

You can figure it out on your own and here are some tips to make it a little easier as you venture into unknown Hublands:

1) Check out my hub pages and have a poke around the site so you can see what other people are doing also.

2) Be clear before you start what your Hub theme will be and what you want your readers to do once they have visited it. (Ie; is there a call to action or a resource you want them to review as a result?)

3) Resist being a perfectionist (I know about this because I tend to be one!) It can slow you down and you need to just bang your content up and you can go back and tweak it and perfect it later as you learn. My photo is distorted at time of writing but still I had 127 page views in a couple of days.

4) Web 2.0 technology is instant. Each component of the Hub Page is called a ‘capsule.’ Work on one at a time, save it ASAP and view it. Then go back and add to it. That way you don’t risk losing your handiwork. (That is super annoying!)

5) For those of you who have already made a Squidoo (which is slightly easier to get around on first attempt) and those who have blogged it will be fairly simple for you to get the hang of. There is a ‘widget’ aspect which is just like WordPress blogs.

Okay so as always the best way is to jump in and get started. Visit my profile and set up your own profile today. That’s the first step. Then you can have a think about what you want to write about. Think about your target market(s) and who you want to attract.

You don’t need to make a promotional hub unless there is something particular you want to direct them to. You can give your readers value and attract them to you. This will help you to develop a long list of loyal subscribers to your list, fans to your hubs and twitter followers etc.

All of this content can link together and improve your search engine rankings. I’ll blog more about that soon as I pull this whole web of content together.

Remember to be patient with yourself. Set aside 30 mins to get started with your first Hub and be prepared to get a little mixed up whilst you find your way around.

This kind of content when done right will attract people to you and your business long term while it just sits there. It has a residual value and is a real ‘magnetic’ asset for you and your business.

Today’s Top Tip for Making Hub Pages:

Be fascinated, not frustrated. Anyone can get the hang of this stuff with some practice. It is completely learnable and is just a mechanical process. For Network Marketers this is the Web 2.0 way of building your magical and ever expanding list without combing the streets looking for good quality candidates.

Whilst I slept 54 people viewed my Hub page. As we know it’s a numbers game this makes me very happy!
