Are You Ready to Take that Big Leap Towards the 2.0 YOU?

This has been a tough year for me emotionally so I really understand how challenging it can be to grow your business when dealing with personal issues.

Dealing with overcoming fear, and building confidence has been a major issue in my life which was what inspired me to write my first book ‘Confidence in High Heels,’ to help women create their own success blueprint to boost their confidence and to overcome fear so they can take ACTION.

As entrepreneurs you know we’re not short on ideas. Sometimes I wish I could slow mine down; perhaps have them apply to enter my head so they don’t keep taking me off track!

So there’s no shortage of ideas but where you may find yourself falling down is in the GAP between the inspiring idea and the IMPLEMENTATION.

Why is that? There’s no shortage of information on how to implement things either. We’re in the information age so you can Google anything you want and almost instantly find the ‘how to’ do something. Maybe you’ll need to invest in a course or sometimes the information is free, but it’s all there for you as long as you can get through the internet overwhelm.

So why do we get stuck in that gap?

It’s usually down to fear. We procrastinate and worry that on second thoughts our idea might not be ‘so good’ after all.

We worry that what we have done so far isn’t quite right. It’s not perfect so we need to tweak or fine tune it until its ‘ready.’

The problem with procrastination and perfection seeking is that rarely will the idea ever get past that gap. The gap becomes a black hole. It will probably never be PERFECT or quite right. When we let ourselves get dragged down with fear and doubt we struggle to ever implement our amazing ideas.

Your power is in receiving your idea and taking action on it immediately. The action could be drawing out your idea if you’re a visual person. Mapping out what you visualise is very powerful because you’re ‘idea’ can’t disappear into the ethers quite so easily.

That big piece of white paper sits there and looks at you reproachfully as if to say,

‘When am I going to come to life?’

‘What are you going to do with me?’

Stepping into your big vision of the new ‘2.0’ YOU, requires courage and confidence. Don’t let your ‘inner critic’ steal your dream.

We talk about other people stealing our dream when they try to protect us or are intimidated by our growth, but actually the most common dream theft of all is when we steal it from ourselves. It’s a quiet, stealthy theft that no one else knows about.

When a colleague or friend asks how you’re getting on with your new idea you shared with them, you can easily just brush it off; you’re too busy now, you’re focussing on your other stuff, you have personal issues to deal with first etc.

Sound familiar? We’ve all done it.

I have learned over the years not to let my personal stuff get in the way of my moving forward to implement my business ideas, for long. It could be a major thing happening ‘to you,’ such as in my case my father died suddenly one week before last Christmas knocking me sideways.

We don’t have control over things like this. We could have a whole big debate about the law of attraction but whatever way you look at it, losing a loved one is heartbreaking.

Another type of fear that might be stopping you in your tracks is the fear that can grip us all BEFORE we’re about to do something BIG!

It might be that you’re launching a new coaching programme, writing a book, creating an information product, starting a new business or mapping out your new niche market; either way there is no point denying that it can be damn scary.

You can be high as a kite with excitement one minute and worried sick the next.

What it all comes down to is the same old little voice chatting in your head and the meaning is always the same, ‘Am I good enough to do this?’

Whatever it might be that you’re going for I believe that as you received the idea and are inspired to go for it,  then all you have to do is follow through and implement. It’s simple but not easy;
exciting and scary all at once.

It is normal to feel nervous, scared, unconfident and fearful before you take a big leap into the new 2.0 YOU of the future.

Acknowledge your fear, map out your vision and take the first step to move forward.

This is the time when you need to invest in some type of support so you are not alone facing your fears.  You can work with an internet marketing coach or consultant so you have a mentor and can be accountable and supported as you implement your idea.

No one does all of this alone. We all have coaches or mentors who support us along the way. One good piece of advice from a mentor or coach can mean the major difference between groping fearfully around in the dark, and racing through to get a fabulous new client, or the confident launch of your product.

So next time you’re feeling fearful and those sludgy emotions get you in a vice like grip, just allow yourself to feel them and let them wash over you. Then take the next step to implement your idea and you WILL overcome the fear.

I even suffered panic attacks when I was a young girl so I know for a fact that if I can overcome that by developing myself and taking action, you definitely can too.

So what are you going to do today to leap into the new 2.0 YOU?

    hi Rachel,
Getting personal stuff out of the proffessional life requires a lot of courage and strength I have been there before. Well this year I have got rid of the fear but the new me requires a little more believing in myself. The only way I got rid of fear was doing the fearful things and I don’t think there is any other way. As you said taking action is the only way to see the results. Great Post.
