Key 4 Be a solution provider a.k.a sign them up!

This is the key that opens the vault! Being a solution provider is just that. If you gain a new subscriber to your list who makes it clear they are interested in generic business building materials help them find the best funded proposal for them and you will make one or several affiliate sales.

If they are open to looking at your MLM or contact you to request more info then direct them straight to your business info. Don’t complicate it all with the affiliates and try and explain it all at the same time. They will DROWN in information.

With affiliates, especially when you’re new to building a list, the best way I found to build relationships is to offer a free consultation.

You can offer a completely free initial consultation to find out more about them and/or you can offer a more detailed consultation when they buy an affiliate product.

This way you are monetizing your time and not wasting it with the wrong people.

You are signing them up either as an affiliate or as a new team member

Today we’re going to talk about how to build the business with affiliate marketing or funded proposals.

It’s not for everyone and that’s ok. Some people get completely distracted and overwhelmed with offering a range of products at their website or blog.

Others love to monetize the process of creating new contacts and building relationships through email and online marketing.

If you’re reading this article then the chances are that you are already using or are researching how to use affiliate marketing or a funded proposal combined with online network marketing.

So let’s say you’re fine and dandy with your warm market contact list. You’re working through it and have had a few new enrolees and customers. You’re following the training that your upline is providing and you’re EXCITED.

Then you start to look on the internet and see if there is a way for you to do some business building online. You start to opt into various marketers lists and before you know it you are MORE CONFUSED than a bee in a flower shop.

You’re hearing from Mike Dillard about the magic of Magnetic Sponsoring, Ann Sieg is emailing you about the Renegade Network Marketer (and telling you that you’re upline is basically useless) and Mike Klingler is talking about getting the technical skills you need from Renegade University or Renegade Professional!

You’re getting more and more excited about ALL THIS MONEY you are going to make but in the back of your mind you’re beginning to wonder if this was such a good idea after all! How the heck are you ever going to promote all these different things that for online affiliate marketing seem to be the ABCs?

How on earth are you ever going to find time or the focus to enrol someone in your Network Marketing business with all these other things to promote?

How are you ever going to understand all this?

How will you work with your upline in your MLM if they don’t understand this?

These are the kind of questions that I receive in my inbox and on my blackberry very often! People are so confused. The most confused of all is the new network marketer who has just ordered his pack and instead of making his candidate list and learning the basics of inviting, with his upline has instead jumped straight into Attraction Marketing with Affiliate Marketing.

I really feel for these guys. They are really up against it unless they learn the basics with a good mentor.

STOP! Let’s cover the 4 Magic Keys to building your MLM business using affiliate marketing without losing your mind, your hair and possibly even your spouse before you enrol your first team member!!

Key 1

Keep your mind on your MLM end game. Do you know what your end game is? Unless you want it to be ironically but tragically similar to the famous Samuel Beckett one-act play with just four characters, you had better get clear on it BEFORE you start building your list and trying to attract prospects to you using affiliate marketing.

Here are some questions to get you going:

Am I 100% committed to building my Network Marketing business with XYZ Company?

If yes – what are my monthly volume quotas to receive my royalty cheque?

Do I need a large customer base to qualify or can I focus mainly on recruiting?

How many hours per week have I got available to do the core fundamentals of building and maintaining my business?

Depending on which company you’re with and how you are building your business this may include things like:

Providing orientation training for new team members

Coaching and assisting them with 3 way calls and working their candidate list

Attending/Running Local Business Builder Meetings or online webinars

Attending local networking events

Following up with your prospects

Enrolling them

Plus lots more!

It’s quite a lot to do and if you only have 10-15 hours per week to work the business part-time like most people do you will need to get very clear on your daily method of operation.

If you spend your spare 2 hours trying to figure out how to install a wordpress blog you will be neglecting the very core activities that will build your cheque.

So Key 1 is to get very clear on what and how you are building your core MLM business.

If you want to use affiliate marketing as part of your overall strategy to bring prospects into your list then I recommend that you set up your OWN MARKETING FUNNEL or MLM ONLINE SYSTEM ASAP!

Don’t build someone else’s list. Build your own! Set up your marketing funnel so that your prospect becomes YOUR LEAD FIRST, not the lead of Mike Dillard, Mike Klingler or Ann Sieg. I love these guys but they have enough leads already, and plenty of money to show for their awesome efforts.

What about you? Ok so if you’re clear on wanting to use and recommend affiliate marketing products to learn how to be more effective with online marketing, and to monetize your list building whether the prospects join your MLM or NOT…

You need your own marketing funnel. You can either learn how to make one (which is very possible but takes some time and study) or you can plug into an existing one.

There are lots of Attraction Marketing Systems around on the internet. Many are completely over-hyped, over rated and will confuse the socks off you some more because you will be pitched every 3 minutes on the latest hot affiliate product.

No no no. Choose carefully because you need focus if you want to win your MLM END GAME. You also don’t want to introduce your team members to a system where they are being distracted every day by other opportunities right?

This is what happened to me when I first started to figure out how to use the internet to build my business. I was so excited BUT so distracted!

MLM Online needs to be kept simple. If you’ve spent any amount of time trying to transition from building your MLM purely offline to getting yourself established online then you’ll know that it can be quite a challenge.

I just want to give you a few tips today for how to do it without pulling out your hair, grinding your teeth right down into your gums or snapping at any family members that may pass by your ‘work from home’ desk!

It doesn’t have to be so painful when you have a clear blueprint to follow so here’s some tips to start you off with a bang this month:

What to do and what not to do i.e.; what has or hasn’t worked well for me!

1) Don’t follow everybody who’s teaching online MLM all at the same time and try to learn from them all at once! You may end up very confused and not know which way to go because there are conflicting opinions about which systems to use.

2) Don’t try to apply Internet Marketing Strategies to your Internet Network Marketing and expect it to perform the same. It is very different and if you try to teach very complicated online stuff to your MLM team you may find them falling very quickly by the wayside. Another thing to beware of is that the guys teaching Internet Marketing often have no understanding of Network Marketing.

Tip: Find a good training platform that you can plug them into to learn social media and attraction marketing that is focused on using the Internet for Network Marketing.

3) Do find 1 or 2 online Network Marketers to learn from who are teaching AND practicing online MLM. Invest in your own education and apply what you learn. There is no other way to get good at this stuff!

4) Don’t expect to learn online MLM from traditional MLM gurus!

5) Do set up your own blog. I recommend self hosted Wordpress as it’s easy to manage, free but for hosting and you OWN it. This means you have control over it and no one else can mess with your business!

6) Do create your own ‘online real estate.’ A blog is the cornerstone for this. You can also set up Squidoo pages and write E Zine articles which all point back to your blog. This is also known as your ‘web of content.’

7) Do set up a free report or e-book so you can attract people into your marketing funnel and build your own list. Do this YESTERDAY! It’s not a day too early!

8)Do create your own Attraction Marketing Blueprint or business plan and stick with it consistently. If you chop and change and don’t follow through you’ll get nowhere fast. This is usually a form of procrastination so be alert for it and don’t let yourself off the hook!

9) Do create your own capture pages. Ideally you’ll have your photo and an incredible value packed offer to entice your prospects into your list. This is all about branding you and getting the ‘attraction factor.’ People buy from and join those whom they know and trust.

10) Don’t forget about your MLM! That’s why you are setting up online. Build your funnel so that your MLM is integrated into it and you don’t get distracted with the affiliate programs.

Forgive me if you’re not a Barbara Streisand fan because I’m a lifetime loyal fan of her wonderful music and lyrics. Actually been a fan since I was about 10 when I first heard ‘Woman in Love’ on the juke box at the local pub. (Best not ask me what I was doing in a bar at age 10!)

Anyway I’m back from my hols where I lazed around in the sun for 2 whole weeks in Spain and had a glorious time. I did miss you guys and it must be the longest time I haven’t blogged in ages.

The only reason I was able to do that and to (almost) turn off my 24/7 marketing obsessed brain was that I had no internet access in our villa. Spain is an awesome country and my activities ranged from eating a lot of Paella.. to eating a lot of Paella…oh and not forgetting all those crusty baguettes.

Although let it never be said that I am not an avid lover of cultural activities…because I did attend a live Flamenco evening in between lounging around the pool and skipping waves in the gorgeous greeny blue Mediterranean sea which I miss so much, now that I live back in the UK.

I was completely riveted watching the male dancer’s certain body parts shake about with such violence. It was quite mesmerising actually.

I’ve never seen so much good Rose wine at 1 euro a bottle. It’s almost criminal! How can one be expected to stay on the straight and narrow with that kind of good value?

Anyhow there is a limit to what you can do with a blackberry so I highly recommend turning off like that and recharging every now and again.

But back to the fun and games of cracking the online MLM code now!

I did have a little thought when I was away and developed an odd kind of nostalgia for the old MLM. You know where we used to wear buttons and pitch everyone in the post office that was slightly meaty and might need to lose weight. (Yes I’m sorry I did do that A LOT and I have to say I made quite a lot of money doing it too!)

As Barbara sings.. it was all so simple then. Have we complicated MLM do you think?

Or have you cracked the online MLM code yet? Or are you still running around (online) in circles feeling absolutely overwhelmed and exhausted?

Or worse still are you still pitching everything that moves but now its online? (I used to do this too and it proved even more exhausting than offline because online there are millions of people right next to you so it’s hard to stop. Facebook becomes exhausting!)

I indulged in my Nostalgia a little bit more .. you know thinking about how innocent I was and what an MLM virgin I was when I first got started 6 years ago. (Oops nearly 7 now)

How everything seemed so easy and how EVERYONE was my prospect..

You know to get started I knocked on doors in my neighbourhood (I was newly back to the UK after living abroad for 12 years) and we came to a completely new area so I never had the famous list of 100 friends and family nearby.

Mine were all over the globe so I always had to be creative.. anyhow back to the doors. Yes I actually did that can you believe it?

I sold a ton of weight loss products like that and ran adverts in the local paper to sign people up.

In my glorious innocence I was happy (I hadn’t got into debt then through buying leads, and I definitely hadn’t been hit round the head with ‘the 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing!’)

Oh those days were so exciting .. but thinking it through as I noshed on my Paella I realised that I can never get the innocent blazing excitement back that one has when new to MLM. I mean I was SO excited I nearly burst! It was probably scary to be around me back then , at least my brother said it was.

I’ve come too far and have eaten the forbidden apple from the tree of knowledge. I just can’t bring myself to pitch every one any more. Now I only want to attract the right candidates to me who are looking for what I have to offer. You know the guys who raise their hand FIRST.

And guess what? I am doing it. Last night I made some more calls to catch up with my leads that have been generated on auto-pilot when I was on the beach (or watching that flamenco dancer’s interesting body parts!)

I never do the hard sell any more. I just pick up the phone to say hi to the people who have opted in to receive my e-book. Some of these lovely people are looking for assistance with their online marketing and have purchased information products through me whilst I was away.

I have posted a lot of content on my blog lately about creating your own Attraction Marketing System for your MLM business.

How are you doing on that? Have you cut to the chase and created your own marketing funnel to attract your prospects into yet?

Or are you still clicking around, scratching your head and wondering how your 1 Squidoo lens or affiliate marketing capture page is going to build your MLM for you?

How are your team ever going to follow you?

This is on the long side today but will provide a real solution for you if you read through to the end so stay with me if this is an issue for you.

It has been a few months now since I began to create my own system to build my MLM online with attraction marketing. (Note: this does not mean that I cannot or will not have a conversation about my business with someone out in the real world if it seems appropriate!)

I have had some amazing results so far in that I am now attracting prospects into my marketing funnel on autopilot on a daily basis, and I am generating great commissions on a regular basis.

I have people contacting me, (again please note I also contact them!) and am starting to build quite a list of people who share my interests and passion for Network Marketing. Many of them are reviewing my MLM business and others are very happy to be in touch with me because they are receiving value for whatever MLM they are choosing to build.

We’re told so often in attraction marketing that the money is in the list. I believe this to be true and some of the differences of an automated list as compared to a manual one are that online it is much easier to keep in touch with your contacts over a long period of time, and also much easier to monetize your daily activity.

The new attraction marketing style of building the business beats the traditional style hands down for me. I am enjoying myself more and am able to reach many more people. I also have a lot more time to myself now I have got through the initial learning curve and everything is set up.

One of the biggest challenges I see for people just getting started with building their MLM online with Attraction Marketing is that they are not set up properly from the beginning.

They often do not have patience for the journey of learning how to become an Attraction Marketing Professional. They begin to doubt that this can work for them because of whatever excuse comes up that day, and they wonder whether they should just go back to pitching everything that moves.

Many are listening to their upline who is promoting the traditional model and this can cause a lot of confusion as you feel pulled first one way and then the other!

The thing is if you just decide that you are going to do it this way it will start to fall into place. You need to get set up properly so that you have an overall strategy and have your marketing funnel in place. This enables you to see the ‘end game’ and all you then need to do is figure out which are the most effective, most enjoyable ways for you to attract prospects into your marketing funnel.

The simpler you keep this the better. Remember the goal is to take a team with you right? If your set up is too complicated then it will be difficult for your team to duplicate.

There is little point becoming an Attraction Marketing Rockstar if you can’t figure out how to duplicate what you’re doing for your MLM business. Okay so you can earn some great commissions, hone your skills and build your list. That is awesome and I’m all for that.

Just don’t lose site of why you got into Attraction Marketing. It was to build your cheque in your MLM wasn’t it? That is where the ‘coconut money’ is! Don’t forget that when you’re bogged down with tutorials and trying to figure out what SEO really means.

After a couple of months of complete immersion in the teachings of Mike Klingler and Mike Dillard I realised that if I didn’t set up a system that I can make available for my existing team members, and team members that I wish to attract then I would be going round in circles for a very long time.

Has that been happening to you? If so then it’s time to take some action and get your marketing funnel set up NOW!

As I explain in 7 Pieces of the Attraction Marketing Puzzle there are a couple of choices for you when you breakaway from the traditional model and decide to really master attraction marketing with online systems.

You can step out boldly on to the new frontier and create your own system or you can join a new team that has one for you.

The second option isn’t so good for you if you are passionate about your MLM and want to stay with it. So what can you do?

Well you can sign up for any number of ‘cookie cutter’ systems. You probably know I’m not a big fan of many of those and I’m much more in favour of people taking control of their own stuff and branding themselves.

The problem is that for most the learning curve of setting everything up is just too steep. As for setting up a system that their team can use, well you may have a long wait. It’s easy enough to learn how to set up a blog and get your content found online, with the proper training. The tricky bit is knowing where to send your prospects to so that you can automate and monetize all of this activity in one place.

Have you written a great report that entices them to sign up into your list? I feel that it is just too much to expect a team member to figure all of this out, often without upline support.

So here’s what I did and listen carefully now because this may just be the 8th Missing Piece of the Puzzle for you!

I do think however that to stick ones head in the sand and ignore the recession altogether when for the most part the majority of your target market is participating in the recession, could be economic suicide!

So how do we find the right balance in MLM or Network Marketing and the recession?

Here are 3 ways to earn more money in your MLM right now:

1) Join a couple of good MLM affiliate programmes or funded proposals such as Magnetic Sponsoring and/or Renegade Professional so that you can participate in something positive: the amazing growth in the Information Product industry.

I am finding that people are very willing to invest in their education as online attraction marketing is booming and Networkers both seasoned and new are realising that they need to learn about Social Media and building MLM online to even have a chance of competing in the market place.

You can brush up or get new marketing skills for attracting prospects to you online and you can pay for your education, or in my case make a handsome profit by pointing others in the direction of the best resources so they can do the same.

With one of these programs alone I can pay my mortgage. It works on auto-pilot 24/7. That is a powerful statement in a time of recession.

2) Be flexible with your MLM entry levels. Most MLMs have at least a couple of entry positions. We are all very good at offering the top one, sometimes to the point where the guys who are struggling with cash (or even just with a lack mindset!) feel that if they don’t start at the top position they are better not to start at all.

Tip: I believe this to be incorrect. Better they start on the smaller package than not start at all! Better they join a solid program and come in at a lower level than join some cheapo $30 deal that promises them that they can build a residual income.

By joining these extremely cheap deals which may be popular in recession times (if you’re one of the ones who are tempted) bear in mind that when it is cheap to join, you are not going to earn very much! You get a commission based on what they pay for their starter products, when all is said and done.

The other thing is that if there is no substantial product offered it’s unlikely to produce much of a long term residual income. If the team members are not bonded with the product and wanting to use it every month then it is clear that your business will be more of a one off quick sale type. Personally I’d rather work with affiliate programs revolving around a high quality program, than a low end, low quality MLM.

I don’t think it does the MLM industry reputation any favours either. When we sign people up for $30 or even $50 what kind of mindset or commitment are they likely to be bringing to a new business….

Anyway back to the point here! Be flexible with your entry levels and let people come in at the level that they feel comfortable at. They can always upgrade later. Don’t be too rigid with how you’ve approached your business in the past – learn to be flexible in these tricky times.

3) Offer paid coaching. You can very quickly get yourself up to speed with some valuable marketing skills if you join either of the affiliate programmes that I mentioned previously. You can get skills that are in demand and that even Diamonds in your MLM do not have.

You can charge for coaching: Renegade University and Renegade Professional in particular will teach you what you need to do and how to position yourself to do this.

You can offer attraction marketing coaching as a free bonus to those who sign up with you in your MLM.

Bottom line in times of recession you need to become as valuable as you can by improving your skill set, and offering more value to your prospects because let’s face it they may not be in such a rush to get their wallets out of their pockets, and they have an incredible selection of MLMs and MLM mentors to join. The only question is: ‘Why will they join with you?’

I’m writing today to those of you who are just getting started with building your list and getting your heads around this massive learning curve of updating your skills so you can build your network marketing business (or any other) online.

This is also for you if you’re well on your way but perhaps need a little validation and reinforcement to keep you pushing through your learning syllabus.

A couple of weeks ago I attended a High School meeting in a small town in the UK, with my daughter who will be transferring in September. I expected to hear more of the obsolete type of info that I usually hear at school meetings.

As an active network marketer and avid student of personal development I have long since despaired of the lack of focus on real skills that I believe children need for the work place they will be entering.

Robert Kiyosaki defined my incoherent thoughts clearly for me when I started educating myself with his ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad,’ series of books in 2003.

Anyhow back to my visit to the school; I was pleasantly surprised and not a little shocked to hear that the Ministry of Education in the UK has finally woken up to the fact that they are not equipping our children with the skills they need, and that there are no longer ‘jobs for life.’

As a result they are intending to change their approach to education so that our children will be encouraged to become independent and responsible learners. They will if all goes to plan become ‘lovers of learning.’

This is because its been recognised by the powers that be that technology is changing so fast that it is far more valuable to teach children how to learn, rather than to force feed them Pythagoras. (That’s my spin on it anyhow!)

So what does globalization mean for our future in network marketing or MLM?

I was mesmerised by this video and am happy to say that I discovered it through my daughter’s high school.

Here are the key points that really grabbed my attention in ‘Shift Happens.’

The average person will have 10-14 jobs by age 38

The top 10 jobs that will be in demand in 2010 didn’t exist in 2004

Up until now the education system has been preparing students for jobs that do not yet exist, using technologies that haven’t yet been invented, to solve problems that we don’t even know are problems yet…

For those of you in the UK (like me!) you may be shocked to see the backward progress England has made since 1900 so watch closely!

1 out of 8 couples married in the US in 2007 met online

200 million registered users on MY Space as of 2008. If it was a country it would be the 5th largest in the world!

There were 31 billion searches on google every month as of 2008, up from 2.7 billion 2006.

Wow! I know it is overwhelming isn’t it? What does it mean for us and our children?

Here’s a little bit of how I see it: by positioning yourself in this field of learning you are in with a fighting chance of being ahead of the curve and to establish yourself online in this race for internet ‘real estate’ and skills as an independent business owner.

When you feel frustrated by the slowness of your learning and your lack of know how in using all the new technologies think about this video. What other options do you have?

It may be slower to start than your global compatriots who are still chasing and hustling for new team members but if you apply what you learn and build a business based around online attraction marketing you will be having the last laugh because you’ll be way ahead of the game and have your slice of the internet pie whilst a couple of years from now, others will be saying ‘what happened?’ (Shift happens!!)

This is the Information Age. That’s why I believe it is vital for you in Network Marketing to build a ‘You Inc’ business.

Get the technical skills you need asap so you can move on to working on the fun stuff which is defining your niche, creating your own unique list of subscribers who appreciate what YOU have to offer and of course building a business around your passions and interests so that business becomes playtime for you.

If you haven’t already then plug into some ‘funded proposals’ so you can start to generate some commissions as an Information marketer. This funds your learning curve and brings you targeted prospects, whilst you figure out how to convert your prospects into your MLM online.

Based on the stats in the video and on my own results so far more and more newbie and experienced network marketers are looking to get online and are hungry for information courses and coaching.
