Ok let’s imagine you’re new to this. You just got started with your networking biz and you want to launch fast.

If you’re not new to this then you’ll still benefit because we all need to ‘re-launch’ our business and create up to date action plans to stay motivated.

Things can get very stale when we don’t inject some new goals and activities into our schedule.

So here goes with 10 simple ways to market your MLM business using both the internet and offline activities:

1) Make a list of everybody you know. This is simple and you can do it. It is SILLY to ignore the people you know already. They know people too! This is networking.

2) Contact everyone on the list and let them know you started a new business. (Follow your team training before you do this) For the ones you feel nervous about just notify them you started a new business and ask if it would be ok to add them to your mailing list so you can be in touch with them occasionally.

Even your old Aunt Mary can pass on information for you. Remember to have good posture and no begging people to join please!

Some people will be curious and ask for info. Don’t blab and ’sell’ them. Use the tools you have at your disposal to do the presenting for the business and schedule a follow up within 24-48 hours.

These people know people too and your list of contacts is your resources list. Dani Johnson teaches this brilliantly.

3) Create a mailing list for the people who are reviewing the business and/or product. Follow up auto responders are great for this or just add them to an email or physical mailing list if that’s what you know how to do. Start where you are and with what you know. Most of this is just common sense. (This does not replace following up on the phone)

4) Create a mailing list for the others who have no immediate interest but are happy to be on your list. Just add them to a simple email list so you can send them updates and offers every now and then. You can ask them to pass them on to their contacts too. This is the auto-responder (email system) I use. It is simple to create a list and has full instructions on how to use it. Go here for your free trial. Email Auto responder

You need to be starting your own organised list of contacts YESTERDAY no matter what business you’re in.

5) Research local networking events. (Google it!) There are usually many low cost networking events. For the price of a visit to the cinema you can connect with quality business people in your local area. Remember this is not about PITCHING them. It’s about connecting with them and exchanging referrals. Some may join you anyway because the timing is right. For those you have synergy with, join each other’s lists and help each other out.

6) Get some business cards. Vistaprint has some great deals for low cost business cards. I recommend everyone have a website which captures details of prospects in exchange for giving them access to something valuable such as a video, a report or a newsletter. If you don’t have that yet don’t use it as an excuse not to take action. Buy your own domain name (sarahjones.com) through Go Daddy and point it to your Facebook profile if you have nothing else for now.

Work with what you do have. You will use these business cards to exchange with people at the networking events.

7) Attend free or low cost seminars on things that are of interest to you. For example attending a property seminar or wealth creation workshop will not only teach you valuable things but will also align you with like-minded people who you can exchange business cards with and add to your mailing list (with their permission) Entrepreneurial type seminars work best but anything educational and of interest to you can connect you with good people to add to your list.

Focus on living an interesting life and getting into conversations with new people. Ask lots of questions and if appropriate add these new people to your mailing list and/or look them up with social media (Facebook etc.) so you can learn more about them and see if they are a prospect.

9) Always lead with value. Think about the person and what you can do for them. Don’t spew your MLM opportunity all over them. Find out if they are someone you’d like to work with and if so move them through the process of reviewing your business. Big gulp. Sometimes you need to overcome your fear of rejection and ask them if they know anyone (3rd party is cool) who might be interested in taking a look …

10) Keep prospecting every day. I recommend you use online social media to meet new people and offline LIFE and networking too. If you sit at home waiting for leads your business can be very slow. Be proactive and do both, especially when you are launching.

There are tons more things you can do but this is a great start for moving yourself off the starting blocks. Don’t allow yourself to be overwhelmed by all the sophisticated marketing stuff you see online. Focus on what you have to offer and on staying in touch with people through your new mailing list.

This way when people’s situation changes they can reconnect with you easily. There is no ‘out of sight, out of mind’ when you have everyone you know on your mailing list.

I don’t know about you but if I don’t make a conscious effort to MANAGE my time, it somehow manages me!

My morning or even entire day can just flash right past me as I discover new and amazing things online. Perhaps it’s the same for you?

There are new launches and new tools and endless new fantabulous things coming at us every day online.

If you are serious about building a long term passive income with MLM you will need to learn how to use your time effectively.

Working online provides brilliant tools but it can also be a tremendous distraction from the job at hand; exposing your business opportunity to new people every day.

So here are some tips to help keep you on track. You don’t want to look back in a few years and wonder what you’ve been doing online all this time, with no cheque to show for it!

Tips for using Social Media for MLM

1) Choose 1 or 2 social sites and focus on mastering them. Avoid jumping into more than that and not really learning how to use them to build your list and generate leads. I recommend starting with Facebook and Twitter as these are the easiest to use.

2) Use the tools available to you. I recommend tweetdeck.com for organising your Twitter and connecting it up with Facebook. (You can update both at same time)

Also use your phone to send updates when you’re away or out and about so your Twitter stays ALIVE. It takes only a matter of seconds to tweet!

Connect up your Twitter profile to your Blog or capture page so you can generate leads when people check you out as a result of your dynamic tweeting.

Use the 80/20 rule. 80% sharing value RELATED to MLM or personal development etc. but NOT pitching and 20% tweets that lead directly into your MLM funnel.

3) Use a customized marketing funnel that leads with a free giveaway such as a free report or video so that prospects exchange their info with you and join your list and become MLM leads.

4) Use auto-responders to follow up with your prospects AND call them using a script so you save time and know exactly what to say

5) Use a system; i.e.; you provide good content such as Blog posts, tweets, facebook networking, and generate MLM leads to your funnel.

Then they receive whatever the information is they signed up for.

You call them and ‘interview’ them.

If they are a good prospect introduce them to your business partner so they can edify you and the prospect can see you are part of a supportive and successful team.

Continue to build your list by marketing with social media every day.

6) Make a marketing schedule. You might do 30 minutes in the morning before work and a couple of hours in the evening. Write down what you are going to do BEFORE you start. Don’t allow yourself to go round and round without accomplishing real activities.

7) Take some time each day to go into Facebook and Twitter and reply and thank people who have retweeted your tweets and/or commented on your stuff.

I got lost a couple of weeks ago when I was driving my girls to their Sunday Stage school. Now don’t laugh…there was a diversion on the road and I missed the turning. We were chatting and there were some confusing cones … Long story.

Anyway I went round and round for quite a time until I managed to figure out a new route to get to where I wanted to go.

At one point I really felt like screaming (I might have done)

My eldest daughter was very calm and did the equivalent of ‘phone a friend.’ She phoned my husband who tried to figure out where we were and help us find our way.

I wasn’t able to fully listen or pay attention though because I was still driving and kept having to make new decisions about which way to go.

Frustrating! If you’ve ever been lost then you know exactly what I mean right!

My youngest daughter was moaning about missing her dance class and being late.

So what’s the lesson for social media?

Well it occurred to me that there is so much information about what to do with social media; but not so much about what to do when it all goes wrong!

Here are some tips for what to do when you get lost online and are facing stressful challenges:

1) Stop everything (like I should have stopped the car)

2) Don’t panic. Take a deep breath. (I definitely should have done that!)

3) Know that FAST can be SLOW. (Driving round and round did not get us there any faster!)

4) Figure out where you are. Phone a friend who knows ‘the area,’ ie; ASK FOR HELP.

5) Then concentrate long enough to LISTEN to their suggestions. (I didn’t do that either!)

6) Follow them and get yourself out of the sticky situation (so you don’t lose your work etc.

7) Take a break and re-evaluate where you are

Create a game plan (get help if needed) so you can move forward in the best way to achieve what you want

9) Listen to yourself too! When I slowed down and took a few minutes to think clearly I found my way back to the place I recognise and just started again.

10) Know that frustration in business and social media (and driving!) is quite normal. Be prepared to push through the obstacles and the reward will be all the greater.

I hope that helps. You must have a social media strategy for your MLM business or you too might find yourself going round and round with no destination in site!

So we’ve looked at using Facebook and Twitter for building your MLM business. It’s really very important to have a proper strategy for using these tools because as you probably realise MLM is quite different to any other business model out there.

If you’re trying to use the tools for recruitment but you’re going after people like a rabid dog your results probably won’t be what you are looking for.

If however you want to learn how to leverage this amazing social media marketplace to connect with new people and attract them to your MLM business then you’ve come to the right place.

Go back and read the other Facebook and Twitter blog posts first if you haven’t already as using video for MLM is more advanced.

Tip 1: Use short (SHORT!) videos. Unless you’re Eric Worre you really can’t afford yourself 10 mins of treating your potential followers to your head shot. Less is best.

No one has much spare time so I often skip long videos unless they are essential for my education. I bet you do too!

Tip 2: Get a FLIP camera. Even if you’re a total non geek anti-tech person you’ll be able to figure out how to use this wonderful little gadget. The wonders of FLIP is that they’re so easy (and super cool) to pop in your bag (man bag?) so you can make videos when you’re out and about if that’s your kind of thing.

Make sure to also buy the little stand that you can get for the FLIP so that you can make videos on your own at home and not need a Director! (Other video camera’s are fine if you know how to use them but given the choice I’d go with the FLIP. I bought mine before the HD version was released and it makes cracking videos)

Tip 3: Practice. Jot yourself down a script for whatever it is you want to do and practice A LOT. Unless you’re experienced with video already you’re probably going to feel like a bit of a nitwit when you make your first videos. That’s OK!

Tip 4: Be you. Your best you! Dress smart and look your best. Film your video in a clean space with a nice light background and good lighting.

Tip 5: Begin with the end in mind (as ever!) Know what the point of your video is. Have a beginning – introduce yourself and say what you’re talking about today)

A middle – Get into the nitty gritty of the subject. Pros and cons or whatever your message is about.

End – Summarise the main points and give a CALL TO ACTION (invite the viewer to hop into your marketing funnel for whatever goodies you have for them)

Tip 6: Craft your script before you start but try not to use it once you make your video. If it’s a 2 minute video you should be able to memorise the main points and if you talk naturally (not staring at a script on the wall) you’ll come across much more charismatically. Just jot down the main points and you can glance at those if you need to as you make the video. Word for word is very ‘wooden’ I find.

Tip 7: Be prepared to be frustrated when you first learn how to edit and upload your video. We’ve all had to go through it. It’s a new skill. I use Windows Movie Maker when I want to add ‘titles’ or my website domain to my video. You can do without and just edit in FLIP if you want to (ie; slash off the beginning and ending if you need to tidy it up) but if you want fancy intros, graphics and websites written on your video you’ll need to get to grips with some kind of editing software. Windows movie maker is free and fairly easy to use once you’ve played around with it a bit. Use the help screens they provide. If you’re a MAC user then you’re made! You have really cool features for videos so jump on over to the Apple store and claim your free lessons!

Tip 8: Use Tubemogul.com This is a free site that posts your video to about 10 sites. Some are a bit odd but some are quite useful. YouTube is one of them so it saves you time posting individually to loads of sites which is brilliant. Your video and/or face can be all over the internet if you get serious with this.

If you want to go really full on then check out trafficgeyser.com (I don’t use this as I’m not a video fanatic but if I made a lot of videos I would. It’s a paid service though so only go for this is you’re really committed to being full on with videos)

Your videos on all these social media sites drive traffic back to your website or blog (if your call to action is clear and your video is powerful)

Tip 9: Put video on your blog. I like making videos as its fun but given the choice I’ll always choose writing over making a video because for me writing is much easier. You need to go with your strengths. Even if you don’t make tons of videos I highly recommend you make some for your blog so that people can get to know you.

For example:

1) Make a video about why you chose your MLM company and/or team. That can lead into your marketing funnel for your MLM prospects. (Don’t pitch like you’re on acid – just review your MLM company and decision to partner with xxx)

2) Make a video to welcome people to your blog and you can give the call to action to sign up for whatever freebie you offer at your blog. (ezine/e-book/video)

3) Social videos. Say you go on a cool trip you can make a short video to show your social media followers and people in your email marketing list the hi-lights. This is a great way of building the relationship with your followers and giving them some fun stuff. Make it fun though! You can relate it to something in business if you want.

You can pretty much make videos about anything that you have to offer so if you’re great at writing articles you can make a video to explain how you do it. These kind of videos are best when you show your computer screen. You can make up to 5 minute videos on Jing.com absolutely free. How mega is that? Well it’s pretty mega if you use it!

Final words on video: Your first videos will probably be terrible (although you might think they’re great!) Don’t worry about that. Just get your hands dirty and start learning what you need to do. You’ll only improve by making more videos.

The amazing thing about videos is that you can post the same ones to tons of sites without it being ‘duplicate content.’ This means that the search engines won’t penalise you for putting the same stuff all over the place as they might do with written duplicate content.

Video is also a great medium for those who find writing a chore and prefer to just talk!

A Slightly Weird Note From Rachel!

Welcome back to this week’s ezine for MLM Rockstars.

If you’ve just joined my mailing list then a huge WARM WELCOME to you too. I know you have a lot of choices of who you can ‘follow’ so I thank you for choosing me!

I can never believe how quick the week passes. I’m shocked anew every week and I’m not kidding. Wow it’s Thursday again! Are you making every day count?

I’m making a conscious effort to be thankful and present in each day of my life. It must be a ‘40′ thing!

Today is Day 14 of my intolerance foods detox program. (Yeh!) I’ve eliminated all the foods (approx 10 including wheat, dairy and eggs from my diet) I’ve been eliminating foods and trying to beat my allergies for a couple of years now but this is the first time I have ever cut them all out at one time as per my intolerance test advice.

Tomorrow I can start introducing my ‘forbidden foods’ one at a time to test whether I’m really intolerant or my system has just overloaded on them. (This is simple speak for how they explain it!)

Well it’s an interesting test in self-mastery. It’s amazing how you fancy an egg when you can’t have one! I’ve also cut out drinking alcohol although I’m not intolerant to grapes or anything. Just seems like a good plan in my quest for purifying my digestive system. I’m finding it to be very helpful in other areas of my life too.

Although I’m not a big drinker I now don’t even have to wonder whether to buy a bottle of Pinot on a Friday night. Simplifies life in a weird kind of way. Not saying I’m never drinking Pinot again though mind you!

On the whole I feel good. The first few days were horrendous as I experienced a classic detox and thought I might die of exhaustion! If you’ve ever done anything like this you’ll know what I mean!

For some reason all this self-examination has triggered a nostalgia in me this week so I started looking at all my old photos. Here’s my fave. Me and my first ‘internet station.’ Wow those were the days when I was one of the speediest typists at Grainville School, Jersey, Channel Isles. It’s a black and white photo by the way because it was in the paper – not because I was born in 1859!

Anyway enough of that. Let’s get down to making business more fun with social media marketing.

This week I’m continuing on the theme of Social Media Marketing and have an article for you about how to use Twitter EFFECTIVELY for MLM. I can’t count on both hands how many people have pitched me this week on Twitter without even saying hello first. Yuk.

You will NEVER enrol people like that. I know most of us were originally trained to talk to everything that moves as if it’s some kind of biblical commandment that we must observe.

‘Thou shalt not pass by ANY living being without telling them about XYZ company.’

The internet came and those days are gone. It’s still a numbers game but the game is easier to play. Smarter. More selective. You can qualify your candidates with your marketing funnel and tools and not waste time blabbing on about your company to anyone who is not suitable. (You can do the same offline with tools and I highly recommend that you do!)

Well I’m done some of the webinars now and read the newsletters and although i was half hoping I might be able to opt out of this (cause I’m overwhelmed with info just like you!) I found it to be an excellent training platform and have kept the ‘Silver’ level. I really don’t want to make the time for the more advanced stuff as I have more than enough webinars to attend but you may want to if you’re starting out as it’s all in one place. This is great training if you want to learn how to do Google Pay-Per-Click and other advanced marketing strategies. Warning! You NEED a marketing funnel to take advantage of this stuff.

What’s Working Now

Pick one area to become good in and master that. Don’t order everything together!

Today let’s take a look at Twitter. I’m going to cover the basics and more advanced stuff today cause we’re mostly learning a lot quite ‘by accident’ as we discover social media.

Tips for maximising Twitter for your MLM and branding you online

Tip 1 – Start branding your own name online

I recommend you start with an account in your own name like this:

This way you start to brand yourself and you can build your network authentically around your own hobbies, passions and business. All in one.

I do have a second account (I’m being very transparent as should you be in social media. People will find out what they want to know about you anyway!)

I saw on my blog stats that someone googled ‘the Truth about Rachel Henke’ the other day! I mean what’s that all about… ? Everyone’s a potential reporter these days so be honest!

The second account is useful as I have one that goes to my blog (my name) and one to my MLM capture page but it’s confusing so just start with your name and add in more twitter profiles later if you want to. Better to have one really good one I think for starters.

Tip 2 – Hook it up to your MLM capture page or blog

If you’re planning on being a consistent blogger then hook it up to your blog. (That is related to your MLM business and in turn connects to your MLM stuff)

If NOT yet a blogger with an opt in to your list. (Are you completely nuts?!)

Just hook it up to your capture page. You want to generate leads on auto-pilot right?

If you want to leverage your time there is no better way to do it. One of one still works brilliantly but if you want to crush it with online marketing and have fun doing it you need a web of content.

At the very least an effective capture page with a ‘giveaway.’ This just means people will exchange their email, name and phone number (if you ask for it!) with you in EXCHANGE for some tantalising titbit that THEY WANT.

This could be an e-book, video or free report. Why else would they hop into your marketing funnel?

You will miss out big time if you only do manual networking. Do MANUAL i.e. commenting and replying to people who respond to you but ALSO automated gathering of leads = BUILD YOUR LIST!

Tip 3 – Indentify your personality!

If you are wondering whether you have the ‘personality’ to build a following online this is time to LOCATE your PERSONALITY and say HELLO to it!

Connect with yourself for a moment and write down all your passions and interests. Be authentic. If you like fishing don’t pretend you’re more into car racing cause you think its cooler… Just be yourself.

I’m sure you can attract lots of enthused fisher-people who would like more TIME freedom to go fishing. Hello? You following me?

Start to share your daily activities. If your life is deadly boring this is the time when you can do some inner soul searching and figure out how to have more FUN!

Make time for your hobbies and passions. Share it with your followers.

For instance I’m a huge reader so I share Tweets about books as your can see in the picture above

So don’t be an MLM bore harping on endlessly about your amazing MLM that has products better than anyone else’s. (We all believe we have the best products or we would move company’s right?)

Yawn. So Golden rule. Don’t be an MLM BORE!

Tip 4 – Share photos and tweets with your phone on the move

Get a smart phone ASAP! A blackberry or iphone is the social media marketer’s wet dream. You can snap photos of anything you choose all day long when you’re out and about. You’ll never run out of topics to talk about.

If you go to a cool networking event you can upload instantly a pic of the speaker in real time!
If you’re out fishing you can take pics of your catches or whatever you guys get up to!

Tip 5 – Use Tweetdeck.com or hootsuite.com

I’m signed up for both but started with Tweetdeck and really can’t be bothered to switch. Tweetdeck does a great job and allows you to sort the people you’re following into lists i.e.; ‘hot marketers’ so you can get the important Tweets right away.

I don’t think I ever tweet straight from Twitter. I tweet from my blackberry or Tweetdeck. Much easier. Much more fun.

Play around with Tweetdeck. It’s easy. Learn the code although Tweetdeck produces them for you when you click on the buttons:

Tip 6 – Connect up Tweetdeck with Facebook.

Kill 2 birds with one stone. Just follow the Tweetdeck instructions and use Facebook connect.

Everytime you Tweet it will then update your status on Facebook. Hey presto! Keep it clean and don’t be mean! It’s amazing where your tweets can end up.

Tip 7 – Follow the 80/20 rule.

The 80/20 rule. 80% of giving value (not pitching your business or sending out links) is a good way to play it.

20% of posting your blogs, articles or other stuff related to your MLM and online business activities. Any more and people stop listening to you.

They follow you for the value you give. Never forget that!

Tip 8 – Create your own Twitter feed

Advanced stuff: Hook up your twitter with your own twitter feed. Use ‘reader/settings in google settings. Locate some blogs you want to share with people and enter the RSS feed links.

Set up your own feed (mine’s called: best blogs and you can see it updating my Twitter status automatically in the picture above)

Go to twitterfeed.com and follow the instructions there to enter your unique feed. This is so cool and makes sure your profiles are receiving regular quality updates even when you’re busy.

Everything except for the smart phone is FREE. So no excuses! What are you waiting for? Go tell the world what you’re all about and start attracting a huge following of raving twitter fans!

Hello hello!

I’m going to do a series of articles about social media because I get the most questions about this. New networkers are coming online and can see the potential of Facebook but have no idea how to use it efficiently.

Facebook currently has over 400 million users and the average person spends 55 minutes per day on the site.

25% of all page views in the USA are on Facebook! I was listening to a video by Robert Grant this morning with all the latest stats.

Europe is not far behind.

Facebook is rivalling google for advertising market share and offers a completely unique and authentic way of interacting with your network.

As Robert Kiyosaki of Rich Dad, Poor Dad fame has written, ‘The richest people in the world build networks, the rest just look for work.’ (Thanks to Mark Hibbitts as I was reminded of that quote by him)

So here goes. I can’t tell you EVERYTHING in one article but I will try and give you the best tips for getting started right.

The best way to learn is to follow people who ‘get it’ and start getting some real experience by building your own network.

Tip 1

If contacting people individually on Facebook to ‘pitch’ them into your MLM was ever in your head then please take it out right now.

You will save yourself a lot of embarrassment and pain. Facebook is a social site that gives you the ability to build real relationships with people who just may be interested in what you have to offer.

I am not talking about contacting your warm market here. You should have a professional invitation process for that, using tools to expose your business, and if you choose to use Facebook as the communication method to contact your real friends then that’s quite a different thing than what we’re talking about here today. (Got it?)

Hopefully you have some good MLM professional training at your fingertips, and are listening and applying it. If that’s so then you will NOT be running around accosting people in the street about your MLM.

So let’s say Facebook is like the world.

Your profile and network are your virtual city.

Interact with people graciously in the same way that you do in your real life city. (Not that Facebook isn’t real life but you know what I mean!)

Tip 2

I’m gearing this up for the people who are starting from scratch because it’s you guys that really need this help.

You start at 0. Don’t panic. We all did that. I started a few years ago after resisting lots of smart people who advised me to get on it.

Action step 1: Look up your real friends and start to build your network.

Action step 2: Join groups and fan pages that are INTERESTING to you where you can CONTRIBUTE with pleasure.

If you are chasing sign ups and money people will smell you coming! I promise. Trust me on this one.

Build up your Facebook presence. I don’t mean sit on Facebook all day. (That can be fun but doesn’t pay well!)

Spend 20-30 minutes per day adding existing and new potential friends that you are connecting with through groups and fan pages. After a while it takes on a life of its own and if you behave nicely on Facebook and give value, people will start to add you every day and it snow balls.

Here’s a recipe for successfully building your network. Spend 10 mins morning and evening adding friends and commenting (with no agenda) Just be your ‘best’ you. (No excuses here please – you can use any pockets of time you have. Doesn’t HAVE TO BE morning and evening!)

Tip 3

Action step 1: Add your capture page or blog to your profile with an interesting message for your target market. Your capture page should ideally lead straight into your opportunity but on the front end offer something of real value such as a free ebook, report or video.

This does not mean leading with an offer to pay money to join your MLM. (That’s what your company website does and you use that later in the process) That is pitching not giving value to a new friend.

If you are advanced and already have a blog then that should be on your profile too. Again this is not a blog about your MLM but more about what value you are giving to the world. Of course it can lead into your MLM opportunity ideally with a link to your capture page so you can build your prospect list.

Action step 2: Show people who you are by commenting on your friends’ stuff (you can see it all in the ‘home feed.’) Enter the great Facebook conversation.

Action step 3: Interact with your upline and others in your MLM team so you can learn the ropes. This will give you credibility as a group.

Tip 4

Action step: Start posting and sharing cool stuff. You can share stuff from blogs, videos or social sites such as Digg.com or Stumbleupon.com. Youtube.com has a ton of amazing free content.

Only share stuff that you feel has real value for the kind of person you are looking to attract. Of course you can share some fun stuff with your friends too.

I highly recommend avoiding time wasting activities that involve mafia wars and Farmville though!

Share with no agenda and the good stuff will come back to you. Being a selfish marketer who talks about their own stuff all day long does not go well in social media marketing. It just doesn’t…

Tip 5

Be nice! Have a GREAT attitude. If you are new to MLM you will be realising that an incredible attitude is key to your success. You’ll be learning to deal with some rejection when your prospects say ‘no thanks.’ (Please don’t cry!)

Work on yourself by feeding your mind everyday so that you have a great attitude. It will be one of your best assets.

Facebook is NOT a place to moan and groan about how unfair life is. You will attract dead beat moaners who want to groan with you! So many people spend lots of their time at work moaning. If you’ve fallen into that bad habit then now’s the time to lose it.

Remember that your downline, upline, crossline and potential prospects can HEAR everything you say. They can find your thoughts online in some instances for years to come so be mindful of this.

Start afresh. Post positive stuff. Inspire people. Share the best stuff you can find online. Build relationships and build your network.

Closing thoughts…

Social media plays a huge part in the new economy and new ways of doing business. Your ultimate goal when using Facebook to build your MLM business is of course to find business partners that are a match for your team.

Remember though that building an online network is a long term asset for you. You can use your network for all kinds of things. It’s the new way of finding business opportunities, contracts, jobs, new hobbies, groups, friends and even husbands or wives.

So in the wise words of Jim Rohn, ‘Success is something you attract by the person you become.’ Keep that in mind when you’re social networking and choose to always do the right thing.

As we wrap up 2009 and Network Marketers all over the world review the year and contemplate and plan for the next one we find ourselves arriving back at the basics.

Whether you’re working primarily online or offline, here are a few ideas for you on how to get started with or to generate more MLM leads for 2010 using Twitter which has become a social phenomenon.

I’m not saying I invented them! I am saying they work and the bottom line for building your MLM is getting more people to take a look at it.

Whether your funnel is leading with affiliate marketing and linking into your MLM funnel on the back end or whether you are marketing your MLM directly online whichever way we look at it you need a constant supply of new quality leads.

So here are some tips for marketing with Twitter that you can implement now.

Don’t wait until 2010. That’s what regular, underachievers do – they procrastinate and get started when everyone else does.

Keep ahead of the curve and make sure you are sowing seeds and catching fish with your marketing net ready so that new prospects are flowing your way throughout December and your ready for all the New Year’s resolution people hitting the internet in search of a better way in January.

Become a Twitter Rockstar

1) Set up your profile with an interesting short bio. Inject some personality into it so that you don’t look just the same as the other 10,001 marketers who say ‘I show you how to market online blah.’ You have full permission to be creative. Social Media is about showing who you are and being transparent.

Tip: Make a big effort to show the BEST of who you are! People follow inspiring people who make them feel better in some way.

Example: I’m a fun loving home based non-guru mom who is building a mega global business in the new economy around my 3 ninja kids.

Doesn’t that sound more inviting than ‘I can show you how to generate 100 leads a day? p.s MLM stinks unless you do it my way!’

Don’t procrastinate here because you don’t have fancy graphics etc. I still don’t have fancy graphics on Twitter and have built my following over 2 accounts to 10,000 people by attracting people to follow me rather than manually adding them or using automated software.

Don’t use your twitter URL as your website! Talk about shooting yourself in the foot and hanging up the closed sign on the door! You want to have a website that invites them in so if they do happen to click on your profile to find out more about you there is a VERY good reason for them to hang out with you and fill in their details to enter your world in exchange for something of value. This could be a free report/ e-book or access to videos etc.

2) Lights/Action – Get Tweeting. What the majority of newbie online marketers do is
a) spam you (yuk – I instantly un-follow them)
b) talk about their daily activity (which can be yawningly monotonous unless they are already a rockstar)

Whilst I would rather hear about your daily activity (if it’s interesting!) than be spammed, chit chatting on twitter is not going to get you more leads unless you are already an influential person or expert with a large following.

I’m guessing if you’re reading this you want to build a business and if twitter is one of your chosen mediums then you want to make it as productive as possible.

3) Tweet at least 10-20 times per day, everyday, so people get to know you and what to expect from you.

Tweet good stuff that is RELEVANT to your target market (I have found that tweeting out random social media stuff or news is not as likely to attract people to look at what you have to offer)

A good example is to tweet out some uplifting POSITIVE business or entrepreneurial quotes. I hear some folk moaning about that but when I tweet quotes I get more re-tweets (my tweets going viral) than anything else I tweet.

Find quotes by googling quote sites. We have all the information at our fingertips so there is no excuse for being dull and boring on social media.

4) Tweet out links to your content. If you’re serious about building a business online then you need to be creating quality content. Here are a couple of options to choose from:

a) Make some simple short videos using a FLIP camera and upload them to YouTube. Give some kind of value in the video that is relevant to your business but doesn’t directly pitch them in. Online pitches with no educational value are like wearing winkle-pickers in 2009. Just so unfashionable!

Tip: Have a call to action at the end of the video to your free offer which attracts the potential follower or prospect into your world. (Your marketing MLM funnel)

b) Write an article. If you can write as well as a 12 year old you can do this. You need a beginning, middle and end. Have a point to your short article (500 words is fine) and spell check it. You can put this on your blog or submit it to a fabulous article site like ezinearticles.com.

Tip: Add in your business bio and a link to get more info about your free offer that again leads your follower into becoming a prospect or visitor in your world or MLM funnel.

Tweet out links to your educational content a couple of times a day. As you develop more content you will have more to choose from and you can post it throughout your social media sites. You are romancing your followers into finding out more about you and what you stand for.

5) Use socialoomph.com You can get a free account where you can set up an automated welcome message to your followers. You can give them an awesome free giveaway on it or just connect with them. (Opinion is divided here – I find both work well for me)

If you are time challenged and/or like to be organized you can automate some tweets such as quotes to run throughout the day whilst you are doing other stuff.

Tip: Don’t overdo it on the automated tweets. Keep it fresh and add in new tweets each day or people will quickly tire of the same old stuff. Be sure to add in some tweets throughout the day that are in real time. You can do this from your mobile phone even if you’re out working all day.

6) As long as you are engaging and giving value you can add in a couple of links to your capture page. For best results this will have some kind of free offer on it. Tweet out a compelling question or statement that will create curiosity and attract your followers to click on the link and enter your marketing funnel. Voila.

Tip: ‘We are in pre-launch with the greatest jungle juice on the planet,’ just won’t cut it anymore!

We’re all so ‘busy’ online it’s easy to get behind with the stuff we know we should probably be doing.

One of the things I know I should be doing more of is bookmarking and sharing content.

But the clock ticks so fast for me! Does it for you? Wow the days just fly by and time goes even faster when I’m at my computer.

Maybe you can relate….

Anyway today I just wanted to let you in on something really cool that I’ve started using to get my online content out there more easily.

There’s a lot of talk with home business owners and Network Marketers building online, about ‘VAs.’

Pardon Rachel?

No I’m not being rude… A VA is a Virtual Assistant and in simple terms is a way of outsourcing some of your load to someone else without having to have an employee.

You can pay them by the hour and you can start off with a VA for as little as a couple of hours a week.

They can be used for all kinds of things such as marketing, phone calls, admin, customer service etc.

There are also techie Virtual Assistants who can help you build your websites, blogs and systems. I couldn’t have built my systems without one of those so that’s a must for anyone who is not plugging into someone else’s system.

Some people pay their kids, neighbours or family members whilst others hire people through Virtual Assistant companies locally or overseas.

I’ve been dreaming of a marketing VA for some time but have procrastinated terribly over finding someone.

Meanwhile my teenage daughter seems to be more highly qualified than most adults I know at whizzing around on the computer so we’ve been working together and I’ve been showing her the ropes with online marketing. It’s been a lot of fun and she is getting some great skills!

I’ve heard quite a lot of buzz about ‘SYNND,’ which is a Content Syndication Network created by Charles Heflin. It’s a big hit and many high profile online marketers are using this service.

I was tempted in a few weeks ago and decided to check it out and see if it’s as good as I’ve heard.

I’ve found that you literally can outsource your marketing to 500 people worldwide in a couple of minutes. (Took me longer at first until I figured out what to do!)

The good news is that it is like having a VA who doesn’t need to be spoken to. It’s all automated and even while you sleep you are earning credits for your own marketing by bookmarking other people’s through your computer. (I won’t even try to explain that because it’s mindblowing but they do a good job at Synnd of explaining it.

So far, so good. I’m not spending much time with it at all but if you wanted to go really big with it you could even have a Virtual Assistant doing it for you. Maybe that will be my daughter’s next task! Although to be fair she is a very physically present assistant..

Who is SYNND good for?

Well I think it’s a great asset to those who create a lot of online content and want to spend less time getting it out there and more time creating it.

Business owners who want less employees and like the idea of employing robots!

Time challenged people who really want to leverage their time and output with tools.

Those who are familiar with social bookmarking and understand the power of it.

People who want to develop their Search Engine Optimization and want organic traffic to their sites. (And are doing the work that it entails!)

Who is SYNND maybe not for?

It’s pretty advanced (although there are step by step instructions in a manual) so I wouldn’t recommend it for none techie people or those just starting out. (Unless you get a super techie VA!)

Unless you have an online business other than your MLM I would say you probably don’t need it. (Unless you are really going for it online with lots of content and creating some kind of brand)

I would recommend you get the basic stuff done before you venture into SYNND. A Wordpress Blog works best with it.

It’s also not going to be for people who still haven’t figured out how to create effective content. (Focus on that first)

Well I just wanted to share that with you. It’s not for everyone but it is pretty amazing. Technology has come so far – who knows where it will be in a few years.

Well I’m on a whirlwind reading experience just now and read Crush It!: Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion in a couple of sittings.

This is an easy book to read quickly, even, I imagine for slow readers who feel it is an effort to wade through a book.

You’ll be pleased to know that Gary Vaynerchuk is just as compelling in print as he is on video. You can listen to him here talking with Agel Network Marketing Pro, Eric Worre, about how to ‘crush it’ and what it can mean for MLM: Gary Vee and Eric Worre Interview

I grabbed the book (and paid £12.99 at Waterstones in the UK for it.) I popped on to Amazon a few days later and found it at a much lower price. Gosh I hate that!

Anyway I couldn’t wait to delve in and as I’m pretty much up on the power of social media I can honestly say that there wasn’t much in it that I don’t already know BUT, (and this is a big but!) It is an incredibly inspiring and passionate read.

So What Can You Learn in ‘Crush It?‘

Well it will completely blow your mind if you are a beginner just looking to get going with social media for branding yourself online.

Gary gives some great resources and tips throughout the book and in an appendix at the back. He even gives away five business model ideas for Vlogs (Video blogs) because he says he just doesn’t have time to implement them.

I bet we will see prolific Vlogs and Blogs cropping up now on these ideas which are as diverse as a ‘tea blog,’ to a Sports blog.

Well I am British – maybe I’ll go with the tea. I’ll leave the Sports to you..

What did I love most about the book?

I love Gary’s passionate style. He is ‘all in.’ No excuses and no whingeing here. If you need a kick up the butt to get into action and make your dreams come true then this is a must read.

I love his inspiring story as a Jewish immigrant from Belarus who came as a kid with his family to the US with nothing to their name. Gary is proud of his family and what they have built.

What didn’t turn me on so much?

Gary is all about ‘hard work’ and there’s a point in the book where he indicates that if you are crushing it you might go to sleep at 3am and get back online at 6am!

Not sure about you but on that area I prefer to follow Tim Ferris’s ‘4 Hour Work Week.’ (Amazing book by the way)

I think a balance in the middle suits me more and I prefer leveraging my time and although there is something genuine and wonderful about how Gary insists on answering all his social media emails etc. himself.. it sounds absolutely exhausting.

Again I’m for the Randy Gage style of don’t give out your email to EVERYONE! On the other hand you do have to be accessible with social media and everything really is changing. What was acceptable years ago (hiding behind a door of privacy is less appealing to your followers as they want to reach YOU)

How does this work for MLM?

Well as I said in the blog post about the Gary Vee Interview with Eric Worre, Gary doesn’t really ‘get’ MLM (and why would he?) so there is a limit to what you can learn for your actual MLM business here in terms of duplication etc.

However there are some incredible lessons about branding YOU Inc. so if you’re a Mike Dillard fan you will definitely want to read this.

A blog or vlog, when done with heart and passion, is an amazing way to attract people to you for your MLM but it isn’t for everyone.

I give this book a big thumbs up because you will get lots of inspiration to be great (which is always welcome!) as well as a possibly a massive WAKE UP CALL about what is possible with Social Media these days.
