Secret 7) Train them with 3 way calls

It is AMAZING what comes out on a good 3 way call. If you learn to do good information style 3 way calls you will enrol people into your group.

Teach your team member how to position the call so it is not intimidating. After a positive follow up to an exposure, I teach my guys to say, ‘the next step is for me to introduce you to my business partner so you can learn abit more about our team and see the kind of support network we have.’

Something like that. It’s not high pressure and it’s not SALES. It is communication and building trust. It’s a bit like an interview process.

If you get good at this your guys will trust you enough to introduce their best prospects to you. This is MLM team building heaven…

Secret 5

Keep them close

You new team member is like a young child. You wouldn’t send your child to school and not expect them to come home to tell you how their day was right?

Same thing here. Ask your team member to check in with your after their first couple of invitations. Help them to get better and don’t forget to PRAISE them for taking action.

Secret 6

Teach them to follow up professionally

Depending what skill set your team member has when they arrive you may have to teach them how to schedule appointments. Some guys don’t even use a planner when they start!

Either way teach them exactly how to follow up and what to say, and what not to say!
womansecret

If you do a good invitation the follow up process has already been set up and should be smooth because the prospect knows what to expect.

As with the invitation it is very helpful to do some role-playing with them here.

I hope you’re enjoying this series of short posts revealing the 7 secrets of helping your new team member to get off to a fast start.

If this was helpful to you please share, retweet or leave a comment about your experiences with getting your new team members started.

Secret 4

Prepare your new team member as if they are going into battle because they are!

Lots of emails you get from master marketers will have you believing that you can build your MLM business to 6 figures whilst you’re sending out fluffy emails to your prospects.

Whilst I am an avid addicted user of the internet to attract prospects, I know (believe me I have tried) that you MUST GET ON THE PHONE or SKYPE to talk with your prospects and team members)

earsecrets

You must teach them what to say and what NOT TO SAY when their family lawyer tells them they have joined an illegal pyramid scheme!

Prepare your team members with a get started training session (I do this on skype) so they are ready to go out into the big wide networking world.

Have fun with it! Keep an eye out for Secret 5 and leave a comment to let us know what you think.

Secret 3

Teach your new team members how to do a professional invitation to take a look at a ‘first exposure’ business tool. Have a simple and SHORT invitation that they can put into their own words but stick to the basic script.

Have them say it back to you. Roleplay with them. Keep it simple.

I promise you if you haven’t done this with your guys you will be HORRIFIED if you hear them inviting someone to take a look at the business. I mean this is scary stuff! Help them learn which words to use to be most effective.

Are You a Black Belt Recruiter Yet?

November 3rd, 2009 rhenke Comments

Ok so you’ve just about got your head around how to generate some leads through your website and now comes the real work… What on earth are you going to say to these guys when you call your MLM leads?

Let’s look at a few different things you could do/say:

a) Call them and introduce yourself and see what the prospect is actually looking for (rather than ranting on about your wonder pills or ‘greatest compensation plan,’ in the history of the world! A.K.A ‘The Big Pitch!’)

This gentler version is known as the ‘consultative approach,’ for MLM and you can learn a lot more about that in Renegade University. When you think about it, it’s a great way to build relationships and network so nothing new there but it’s amazing how many ‘recruiters’ don’t do it.

b) Not call them at all… wait for them to be so ATTRACTED by your brilliance that they call you.

Yes this does happen and as you build your list and become more credible in online marketing and the MLM world, it will happen more and more BUT and this is a big BUT… if you sit waiting for the phone to ring when you’re just getting started in your business you are choosing the painful and slow route to recruiting.

Yes it requires some courage to pick up the phone (work with your sponsor on this or get the training you need elsewhere if that’s your situation.) The pay off is huge.

How are you going to ever learn how to recruit new business partners and product users if you are too scared to phone them?

Every time you call you will be practicing and getting a little bit better so that’s another great reason to start calling every lead you generate.

Unless you’re an internet direct sales marketer with a heavy hitting sales model or affiliate marketing business you need to speak to your prospects ASAP. and begin building the relationship with them.

The beautiful thing about building your MLM with online marketing is that it removes a lot of the time wasting of having to phone people who are not even interested. (although I still recommend you talk with your warm market when you start, but that’s another blog..)

However this is Internet Network Marketing or MLM using online tools. That’s all it is. It doesn’t mean that your auto-responder builds your team for you.

It is simply a tool – albeit the best tool I have ever discovered which means that all night long while I get my beauty sleep leads are plopping into my inbox.

Still you need to speak with your leads. Once you have so many coming in you can think about using a VA or Virtual Assistant to assist you for those initial calls, or only call back certain ones that email you or watch your video (if you have online tracking) etc. etc.

It’s up to YOU how you qualify your prospects BUT….(Another BUT!)

Until that day when you are flooded with leads please call them all. Start to develop the phone skills you need to be a top recruiter in your company.

Mike Dillard and Mike Klingler will both tell you that you still need to call your leads. No matter how fancy your capture page, there is no way around that so embrace it and make it fun.

Top Tip: Allocate batches of time where you just do calling. No distractions and no multi-tasking. (Apparently it lowers your IQ any way!)

If you have lots of leads set aside a couple of hours twice a week or whatever it is to call all your leads and say hi. If you’re just starting then set up a couple of times each day that you can try to reach them.

Find out what they’re looking for and assist them to come through your MLM online funnel with confidence.

A human voice makes all the difference in the world and will set you apart from the majority of network marketers who are new online and who think their auto-responder and capture page is going to build them a big team. (Yes really!)

Here’s an amazing free video for you today if you’re ready to start actually recruiting people rather than just creating fancy blogs and websites: Black Belt Recruiting Video.

The content in this video is pure gold and will show you that even Mike Dillard with all of his new school online marketing still practices and preaches ‘old school’ follow up which of course is just MLM 101, neither old school or new school!

For those of you already receiving Magnetic Sponsoring newsletters from Mike Dillard then you’ll know that he is arranging training courses for offline marketing now.

He has realized that many baby boomers and none geek types will want to do MLM in this new economy, but may not want to bury themselves learning all the skills needed to generate MLM leads online.

This is a happy day… Old School MLM meets New School in an amicable marriage of key networking skills.

Old School or New School – Just make sure you are ‘In School’ and put aside 1 hour to watch this incredible free training video interview series with Mike Dillard and Mark Wieser who personally sponsors over 250 people each year, and was one of Mike Dillard’s first mentors.

Attraction Marketing for MLM in the New Economy – Part 4

October 29th, 2009 rhenke Comments

Creating Your Own Economy

Welcome back to the series. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading as much as I’ve enjoyed writing!

In the last 3 parts we exposed New School and Old School MLM for what it is. We looked at ways to integrate social media with offline marketing and drive prospects to your website. Finally we looked at what it takes to become an Attraction Marketing Rockstar. Scroll back on the blog if you missed any of these articles and would like to catch up.

I always focus a lot on the MLM aspect of Attraction Marketing and building the business because I am aware that people get so side-tracked online with learning the skills for social media and creating content that they sometimes forget what they set out to learn them for!

Today however I’m going to take a more holistic approach and look at what it really takes to work at home and how you can create your own economy in this new economy.

One of the reasons MLM is so great (and it still is no matter what some of the guys trying to get you into other deals might say!) is that anyone can CHOOSE to start their own business for a small investment. In the business world $250-$1000 is a miniscule investment so remember that.

As a result MLM is becoming even more popular than it has been in the past. People that have never considered it before are diving into it in droves because they have finally realized that their job or the government is not going to provide them with the security they crave.

So what does one have to do to create their own economy today?
I have been working from home on a self employed basis for 7 years and now I feel like my day has finally come!

Never in all of those years has it been easier to work from home, with all of the amazing communication tools at our fingertips, so that is the great news for you if you choose to create your own economy now.

Here’s 5 things you can start to do (or continue to do) to get yourself positioned to take advantage of this massive boom towards working at home and creating your own economy.

1) Brand yourself with social media. Start with Twitter and Facebook. Take a course – yes invest in your ‘personal technology.’ To be your own boss you need to provide your own training and buy your own pencils now.

2) Evaluate your skills honestly. Write down all the activities you need to perform to build a successful home based business such as:

Generating leads/prospects
Telephone communication
Person to person communication
Technical Skills
Copywriting skills
Recruiting/Sales skills
Team Building and Leadership skills

Many of the skills you need to work as an entrepreneur are the same in or out of MLM.

Give yourself a score on a 1-10 of what your skill level is in the key areas you need to perform in. Identify your areas of strength and focus on getting even better at those.

Being mediocre in everything doesn’t get us very far. You can outsource the things you are not so good at and improve the things that you want to spend the most amount of time doing.

There are certain skills in MLM that are essential so work hard on yourself to develop those and partner with your mentors to tap into their expertise so they can help you.

In MLM for instance it is essential to develop communication and recruitment skills. The fastest way to do this is to find someone upline from you who is having success and work with them. Introduce your prospects to them and start to model their speech and behaviour.

It doesn’t take that long to see massive improvements in your performance as long as you are taking enough action (online or offline) to get prospects into your funnel.

3) Partner with a successful team of mentors so you are learning and improving your skills every day.

4) Creating your own economy starts with creating your own mindset. The best investments I have made and still make are in personal development programs, books, audio and live events. If you don’t believe you can do it then who is going to believe in you?

Oh and a big tip is don’t just buy them. Read and listen to them EACH DAY! I listen to audio training whilst I drive or do mundane kitchen duties. I actually look forward to doing stuff in the kitchen so I can listen to my latest Tony Robbins, Randy Gage or Joe Schroeder audio.

5) Start to think of yourself as the company. ‘You Inc.’ is so timely now. There are so many opportunities and ways to develop income at home with the internet that really jobs are no longer a necessity. If you like having a job or you depend on the income then look at ways you could start to be an independent or self-employed rep in your line of work.

That will give you more time freedom and put you into the right mindset for being an entrepreneur which ultimately is what you need to become to create your own economy.

Finally my biggest tip for you is to cancel your bad news channel or just don’t watch it! It is a constant stream of information about why you are not in control and cannot create your own economy. As Jim Rohn would say, ‘don’t sign up for that class.’

Attraction Marketing for MLM in the New Economy – Part 2

October 16th, 2009 rhenke Comments

Part 2 – Attracting offline prospects to your website without using outdated methods like flyers and cold calling.

At the end of the day we have people we already know to invite to review our MLM business and/or people we don’t know (yet!)

Hopefully you are excited enough about your opportunity to feel positive about sharing it with your key contacts when you first join, and you have some good 3rd party tools and training to plug into to do this.

(3rd party tools just means a DVD, a website, an audio etc. that you can use as a first exposure to see if you have a real prospect and to avoid you having to be the message)

So let’s say you’re just getting started with building your online presence with social media but you’re also out and about, ‘living your life on purpose,’ networking.

How can you get these nice people you’re meeting at local networking events or in your day to day life to take a look at your business, without feeling pushy and salesy?

If we really believe in our MLM business then in this new economy we bear a certain responsibility to give people an opportunity to take a look at our MLM business right?

The majority of people out there in the big world are completely oblivious about ‘old school and new school MLM debate!’ They just don’t care!

What they may care about is finding a business model to plug into that they can use to change their life in this difficult time so I feel it’s important to move through this transitional period in MLM so you feel you have a complete system that works both on and offline.

Let’s look at three scenarios that we may have here:

1) Business networking events such as networking breakfasts etc.

Here people expect to exchange business cards. They come to ‘do business’ and meet new contacts. This is an ideal setting for you to meet professional people in your local area who are business minded.

Over the years I’ve attended so many of these events I’ve pretty much experienced every kind of scenario so nothing would surprise me but the usual format is either you officially pass your business cards around in a little box during the meeting, or you informally network with people and exchange cards with whom you want.

Both are great, the latter tends to be more environmentally friendly and time efficient because you’re not politely accepting cards that you have no interest in!

2) Day to day informal events

You meet an interesting person at a local event for example with your child, or pursuing a hobby of yours, and you are unsure what to do or how to build a relationship with that person although you think you’d very much enjoy working with them and they could be suitable for your business.

3) The ‘one shot’ prospect that would be ‘perfect’ for your business!

The ‘one shot’ prospect is the one you meet at the airport or the underground and will probably never see again. Ok with those guys rather than taking a deep breath and pitching them with all your buzz words, on your business (which I admit I would have done without the blink of an eye in the not too distant past) now you can simply chat about social media and see where they ‘hang out.’

How can you develop these relationships?

It’s probably best if you don’t even mention your business. (If you’re coming back from an International convention waving flags and high on life and jungle juice then you may need to physically hold yourself back!)

With all 3 of these scenarios you can now be less urgent in ‘pitching’ them because social media has opened up communication and the world for us in a dramatic way.

When you meet a great person at a local networking event or you get stuck waiting in the dentist’s surgery for ages and get chatting with a really cool person you can just talk about fun things.

There is no huge urgency which usually turns people right off. To meet someone for the first time and to start chewing their ear off about your business, and yes I know it is probably THE best one, and NEVER been done before.. But let’s face it, it’s a huge turnoff.

Ask questions and just relax into building relationships. Exchange cards if they have one and say you’ll look them up on, wherever it is they said they hang out.

Are they members of ‘Linked In?’ That’s a very formal and professional networking site where you’ll find thousands of interesting candidates.

Or they may be a lover of Facebook, or perhaps they are already into Twitter.

So doesn’t that make it easier and take the pressure off? Discuss the phenomenon of social media, discuss anything and everything that is fun and just connect up with them afterwards online.

No more heavy phone for first ‘follow up’ after the networking events. Phew.. I’m pleased about that.

So back to the main point of this article today; this is how you attract your prospects offline to your online sites. You start by inviting them to be a friend on the social media fun spots or fishing pools such as Facebook, and as a natural progression of your new friendship you’ll be able to expand on what you do as you connect up further.

They will see you are in business and if you position yourself well with an attraction marketing website and a little bio about you, and what information they can get free at your website they may very likely click on it without an invitation. That is so smooth when that happens.

If you need to formally invite them to take a look then once you’ve had a little look at there ’stuff’ online you are a lot more informed about what their interests and passions are. You know who you’re dealing with and can easily connect up with them and send them your link to check out to see if there is any interest there.

Attraction Marketing is not about being online, although that’s where it’s easiest for the majority to practice it. It’s about being a friend and having an attractive offer that encourages people to network with you and want to find out more about what you do.

Okay I’m wrapping this up now. I do hope that’s given you some enthusiasm to get social networking both on and offline and start leveraging your time with your website.

No flyers as I promised! Such a blessing for Network Marketing in the UK because it rains so often we are just not suited for flyering.

p.s this is a GREAT way for contacting your ‘chicken list!’ You know the guys that you feel you need to notify that you’re in business because in some way they could be an asset to your team, but perhaps you are intimidated by their success or position. These are usually the best prospects in your network circle so don’t ignore them through fear – just touch base with them using social media if you can’t bring yourself to call them.

p.s.s All of this works 100 x more efficiently when you have an attraction marketing website, branding you and your business and that offers a value based giveaway for people to opt in to receive information from you. If you have no customized funnel in place to build your MLM online and want to attract prospects to you, now is the time to get one! Social Media Marketing and Personality Types.

June 19th, 2009 rhenke Comments

shycat

So what do you do to build your MLM business when you feel you are too introverted or shy to talk to people about your opportunity?

Many new network marketers simply quit. First hurdle and bummm.. they’re gone.

If you’re tenacious but introverted then you need to find a way that can work for you. I think it’s because of challenges with personality types that so many people are switching into attraction marketing online.

On the other hand some of the most popular ways for building a business online are with Social Media Marketing. What does that require to be successful?

Perry Belcher, the king of Twitter and Social Media Marketing likes to say that Social Media is like one big party. So does that mean that if you’re introverted you’re back to square one and the outgoing people win yet again?

Well it can do but the great thing about building an online business is that you can customise your marketing to suit you. It’s not about one size fits all and you either follow this plan or you’re out.

There are days when we all feel more sociable and outgoing than others even if we’re not introverted or nervous of talking to people.

It’s useful to bear in mind that even if you are the most outgoing person on the planet and can talk to everyone on and offline about your business, the chances are that you will have people in your team who have not been blessed with this ease of communication.

Here are the main ways to build your business with social media in a way that can suit every mood and personality type: super shy, outrageously outgoing or somewhere in between!

Social Media for Extroverts
If you are a chatterbox and love connecting and chatting with people then Social Media Marketing is your match made in heaven. Spend some time each day posting items of interest, commenting on the networks such as Facebook and Twitter and actively social networking.

Twitter was made for chatterboxes so your time has come! Many are building their entire business around social media marketing in this way.

Top Tip: Create a blog to link your social profiles to and make sure you add plenty of personality to your content along with a lead capture box and your phone number so that people can call you or opt into your marketing funnel.

Social Media for Shy Pussy Cats.
Shy pussycats also have lots to do! Social Media represents a huge fishing pool for potential prospects. An incredibly effective way to build your MLM business online is to set up your content with attraction marketing so people come to you.

Attraction Marketing was really made for you! You can spend lots of your time attraction prospects into your marketing funnel and you can either set it up so that people call you (if you feel comfortable with that) or you call them once they have reviewed something.

Top Tip: Create content that pulls people to you and if you don’t want people calling you first then don’t put your phone number on your sites, or have your calls go to an answer service. Make sure to have a value based free report to offer so your prospects sign up on your blog or website and are exposed to your opportunity or services before you speak to them.

Most people are somewhere in the middle of these extremes, and you can have networking days or hours for when you are feeling in an outgoing mood. At other times you can work on your online content as there is plenty of quiet work to be done there.

At some point you’ll need to pick up the phone to build a relationship with your prospects but that is so much easier when they are already receiving email messages from you and when you call you are already positioned as someone who is offering them real value, and they feel they know you. Dare I say it but it is even an enjoyable activity!

p.s If you’re interested in learning more about setting up your own marketing funnel with a customised plan based around your personality type then register for a free account with Renegade University where you’ll be able to learn more about this type of attraction marketing.

Are You Calling the MLM Leads That You Generate?

April 22nd, 2009 rhenke Comments

When I transitioned fully into attraction marketing at the beginning of this year (working my MLM with this new business model to attract high quality prospects to me) I blogged that I would share with you in real time how it is developing.

So here we go.. I have observed that many people are generating their own leads successfully. BUT I have also observed that many networkers are too terrified to call them!

What a paradox this is: many of us in the ‘old days’ were taught to spend thousands of dollars (or pounds in my case) on leads and did we call them?

You bet we did because at $10 a lead it would be sheer madness not to right? Script in hand, shaking in our boots, we dialled and dialled!

So why is it that when we learn the way to generate our own unique leads with attraction marketing, which are very low cost or even free, and much higher quality than any lead we could ever buy from an MLM company (yuk!) some don’t call them?

Easy answer really! FEAR is the usual killer in this business. Icy dread grips the networker and a sinking feeling in the pit of the stomach when they look at the phone.

heavy-phone

They think… ‘oh I will go and make a cheese sandwich and have a cup of tea before I start calling..’ I know because I have done this and sometimes still do!

I do so love drinking tea! It’s a very seductive distraction.

Anyhow the point being that now I have been in my own Attraction Marketing Bootcamp for 3 months of consistent learning and action and the results are incredible.

I am generating leads on auto-pilot every day, making commissions with funded proposals, receiving referrals (without asking,) having business builders from all kinds of companies contact me, and when I make my calls the people I call already know who I am and are happy to hear from me.

How about that? Wow I don’t know about you but after 6 years of working every which way to build the business this is like living in a dream!

Business is fun and calling is pleasurable and my skills are becoming more valuable by the day.

Okay Rachel – very nice for you I hear you say. WIIFM (What’s in it for me?) Big tip there when you are writing or talking remember that attraction marketing and of course any kind of communication needs to be focussed on the prospect, not on you.

I have so much to say I’m going off the point but wanting to share with you that if you learn how to develop an attractive web of content which pulls leads into your list every day, regardless of what you are doing then it is just a matter of time before you will need to move to the next step.

What’s the next step? Well it involves the telephone! (Or for those of you who suffer from severe telephone allergies and disorders I recommend using Skype where possible.)

Skype is somehow a lot less intimidating than an actual telephone can be when you are fearful. It’s more casual and you can message with someone BEFORE you call them on Skype or by phone.

That being said you still need to bear in mind that to be time efficient you must book an appointment and value your time, or your prospect will not value it either!

I have many years experience of all types of calling and still I found that I needed to learn a new style now to suit my new business.

This is because if you learn to use the new MLM business model of attracting people to you (remember that this is not the model those poor souls are using who are spamming your profile with links!) the chances are that you will also need to change your prospecting approach to suit the new type of prospect.

So why are people fearful? It’s usually because they don’t like change. Many networkers have got varied results with chasing their prospects down until they ‘buy or die.’

They are taught to ‘pitch’ and chase. So now when faced with a different kind of prospect – one who is eager and keen to hear from them because they are looking to develop their skills and want to learn from them.. it can be confusing.

Pitching and chasing and convincing is in our blood as networkers because that is what we are taught over and over. Even when we are with a modern sponsorship line that uses 3rd party tools to give the message, we still seem to end up chasing.

I have spent the last 2 days listening to every type of training in the attraction marketing arena that I can find on prospecting on the phone and I have some news for you!

Attraction marketing is not about generating loads of leads and sitting back waiting for everyone to join your MLM. (Sorry to disappoint you)

What it is about is sorting and sifting your prospects with automated tools so that by the time you come to speak with someone you already have a good idea of their level of seriousness in the business.

Some may already be customers through the funded proposals you are using and you won’t find a higher quality prospect than that.

I have come to believe that many people fail in our business, not because they are not ’serious’ or because they are ‘lazy.’ (Although there are many of those too)

I think it is more to do with their lack of training and skills in real marketing. So how are you going to get confident about making those calls and knowing what to say so that you can qualify your prospect and find out if they may be a fit with you as a business partner?

After all there is no point attracting leads if you are not going to sign anyone up for your MLM right? Okay you can make thousands with funded proposals which is not too shabby – you can go full time quickly with this model but the end game is your MLM. (Just a little reminder in case you went off track!)

Here are the best resources I have found and what you use will depend on your style and goals:

Magnetic Sponsoring offers the Black Belt recruiting course and it is ‘Alpha’ Prospecting at its best. If you are someone who likes to cut to the chase, want to build fast, are willing to make lots of calls and have strong posture then this will be great for you. Here is the free video series with Mike Dillard interviewing Mark Wieser (Top Recruiter who sponsors 250 a year!) If for any reason I can’t think of you are still paying for leads then this will work great for you too.

As usual I found the best fit for me with Renegade University and Mike Klingler. I listened to his ‘attraction on the phone’ webinar yesterday and it is an exact fit for those who are generating their own leads with Social Media and online content. Mike offers priceless training and when I listen to him I get a warm fuzzy feeling of ‘I can do this.’

So in summary I will be using and teaching what is known as ‘the consultative approach.’ This is a very comfortable way of providing great value for your prospects FIRST and then converting them to business partners in your MLM when and only if you are a match.

For those of you who did not yet set up your attraction marketing machine you need to start at the beginning (so you have someone to call!) which you can learn to do with my special report, 7 Pieces of the Attraction Marketing Puzzle.
