<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">I&#8217;m always intrigued to hear people say things like &#8216;she was trying to sell to me,&#8217; or &#8216;he was always selling something,&#8217; when they sign up to receive marketing training from a marketer!</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">I know I may be a bit unusual but when someone ‘gets’ me on the phone and starts to try to upsell me on something and they do it with real skill I actually enjoy it.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">Okay told you I’m unusual so now you know!  We&#8217;re not robots &#8211; we&#8217;re thinking individuals but often we&#8217;ve been programmed to follow the &#8216;herd&#8217; and do what everyone else is doing.</span></p>
<p>But<span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;"> what do most other people do?</span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">They complain with a capital C cause for some reason complaining is considered cool in many circles.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">But you are different because you want to develop a lifestyle that the complainers can only dream about don&#8217;t you?</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">That&#8217;s why you can&#8217;t allow yourself to be programmed with that lack mentality.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">If you won&#8217;t invest in yourself it&#8217;s unlikely that people will invest in you and your services because they will feel the quick buck syndrome is at play.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">When people offer me money for my consulting or services if I don&#8217;t genuinely believe I can help them and they are someone I can deliver huge value to I don&#8217;t take their money.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">I&#8217;m serious. My time, my craft and my reputation is worth everything to me and I won&#8217;t risk it for a quick buck.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><strong><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">Have a think about that and how you will or do operate when people offer you money for your services.</span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">What I want to teach you or remind you of is that you can pick and choose the programmes, products and services that trainers connect you up with &#8230;</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">I am not attached to whether you as an individual buy from me or sign up with me for consulting or whatever.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: georgia,palatino; font-size: medium;">So when I show you something cool it&#8217;s because I have personally invested my own time, energy and GUTS into developing it OR I&#8217;ve studied with a master (or mistress) who is passing it on to me.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">I’m all for creating or plugging into online marketing funnels and doing things the smart way so that you have leverage online to attract new people to you.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">However if all you do is tweak your fancy funnel, things can get kind of slow.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">So have a plan in place for speaking to new people every day and do it for at least 90 DAYS.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">Notice I don’t say chase 10 people a day and bore them to tears with all the un-fascinating features of your products or services.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">What I mean is develop relationships with people every day and see how you can help them.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">This is so critical because if you position yourself as a solution provider you’ll never be short of prospects and you’ll build a valuable network.</span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">This is exactly how you begin to set yourself up as an expert in your niche so here are 5 ways for you to start generating hot prospects today:</span></strong></p>

<li><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">Reconnect with all the people in your life that you haven’t spoken to in a while. Just a quick call to see how they’re doing. (Follow up with an email link if they are open to passing on your info)</span></li>

<li> <span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">Go through your business cards, email address book, skype,  mobile phone, social networks  and any other resources you have for people you’ve met through business events or have worked with in the past. Post it to your blog and to your social networks. </span><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">(Oh pleeease don’t say you don’t know how to do this because I’ve been mailing you free ‘how-to’ info every week in my ezine forever so just go back to the blog and read some of the posts there.)</span></li>

<li><span style="font-size: medium; font-family: georgia,palatino;">Always be open for business. As you go about your day to day life be open to making new friends. Where appropriate exchange contact details and follow up with them to develop the relationship.</span></li>

There are tons of them these days so find the ones for you and attend each one as a guest.  Join at least a couple and commit to attend each week or month so you start to build relationships with the influencers in your area.</span></li>

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Last week we covered how to<strong> <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/how-to-make-your-contact-list-launch-your-home-business-fast/">launch your home business</a></strong> fast, work your contact list and get referrals.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Today let’s talk about how to follow up and how to avoid the biggest follow up &#8216;sins&#8217;  we see people making in the business.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Firstly the mindset you need for follow up is one like this<strong>: <em>I am in this business for the long term and whether the person I follow up with says yes or no it won’t affect that.</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">After all it is about YOU, not them. Treat people as wonderful individuals but in the big picture always remember that any marketing business is a numbers game.  <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/k2379921.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2514" title="k2379921" src="http://rachelhenke.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/k2379921.jpg" alt="" width="160" height="170" /></a><br />

<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Remember Jim Rohn’s famous ‘Talk to 10, get 1?’ That’s about average in the business but you have to talk to more than 10.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">So take a deep breath before you pick up the phone or skype your prospect. You will live through it if they are not interested. (I promise)  Say thank you, ask for referrals if they are positive and then move to the next one.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>So here are the cardinal sins to avoid!</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>1)      Avoid following up with no appointment.</strong> ALWAYS push yourself to schedule a follow up time with your prospects BEFORE you send the information. Remember last week’s blog, ‘IF I send you the information … will you watch it/ take a look?’ You must follow that format of last week’s guide and ask for a time to call them back when they will have watched it and you can get their feedback. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><em><strong>(That’s how you eliminate the need to chase people – if you’re chasing it’s because you haven’t set it up right in the beginning)</strong></em></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>2)      Don’t miss that call or call late! </strong>(Enough said)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>3)      Don’t beg or whine.</strong> Be positive and upbeat. If you are not getting good feedback from your calls record yourself on the phone or skype and listen back to see how you sound. Even if you are nervous you must act like you are not.  You can do that.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>4)      Please, please, please, don’t keep calling the same 5 or 10 people. </strong>If you use the process we have outlined (I have fine tuned my process over the years and it’s based on Eric Worre’s &amp; Randy Gage’s professional invitation and follow up for warm market) you won’t need to keep calling them because you will very quickly know whether they are interested in your product or business by steering them through the ‘funnel,’ to the next step.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">If you have scheduled a time to get back to them just like you would if you worked for a bank or any type of organisation it completely eliminates any doubt.  You call them back and they either want to go to the next step (preferably an introduction call for <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Network Marketing</a>) or getting more info or getting started with the coaching program you offer etc.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">This whole process is perfect for <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Network Marketing</a> but it is the same process for following up with anyone for anything. Once you decide to practice this like a Pro there is nothing you cannot market.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>5)      Don’t think your website will do all the work for you.</strong> For those of you using websites to bring prospects to you remember that this is just the same. Unless you have a purely internet based business you are going to need to set appointments &amp;  get very clear on explaining the process of your home business (<a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> or Coaching Programs, Other Services) so keep it simple but know in advance what your follow up process is.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"><strong>6)      Don’t over talk it;</strong> one of the biggest mistakes is people either say too much or don’t say enough. This is why a proven process is SO critical for your success.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">Put a sock in it! Droning on about yourself and your company/product/service will not help you.  It’s amazing how many people do this. Prospects are coming to you for solutions to THEIR problems. Ask them questions about them. Within their answers you will hear all you need to know about how to get them started IF you will just let them talk.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;"> <strong>7)      Don’t try and do it all alone.</strong> Avoid being the lone ranger as this really seldom works out well. Use your support system; this can be a meeting, a coach, mentor or upline. Find someone you can work with and get together with them for coaching sessions often.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: medium;">If you’re unclear or unconfident on this get back with your coach or mentor and they will help you get on track. You can role-play before you make your next follow up calls.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size: small;"> This one can cause a lot of aggravation and confusion in the home business world so I’m going to share some tips with you today that have helped our team to be effective in letting people know about our business without all the fuss &amp; drama.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">You’ll  read a lot of nonsense on the internet about not talking to your warm market about your home business but my advice to you is take that with a pinch of salt.  <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/friendsfamilynetwork.jpg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-2420" title="friendsfamilynetwork" src="http://rachelhenke.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/friendsfamilynetwork.jpg" alt="" width="163" height="170" /></a></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">What you want to do is learn how to talk to people you know effectively and professionally so that you can launch your home business (Direct sales or <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> Business) right.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Read on if you’re in another small business model such as coaching or other service business because these principles apply for all models.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Here’s my top tips for you:</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>1)</strong><strong>Make your list of contacts.</strong> Don’t worry what you are going to say or do with them now. Just open your mind and start to get the names down. Keep your notebook with you so you can add names to your list as they suddenly appear throughout the day. (As they do when you open yourself to this process. <strong>(This is your NETWORK. In the age of Social Networking this list is GOLD for you)</strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>2)</strong><strong>Use a memory jogger. </strong> Who do you know named Joe? Who do you know that looks like Tom Cruise? (Send him my way!) Go through the professions in the phone book or in your business plan memory jogger and just keep adding names. Go through old diaries and business cards.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>3)</strong><strong>Divide your list into sections: </strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Hot Market</strong> &#8211; people who know you REALLY well &amp; whom you might be a little wary of approaching in some cases. Great Aunt Hilda etc.)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Warm Market</strong> – All other people you know well enough to say hi to and who know you by name or at least well enough to stop for a conversation.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>4)</strong><strong>Add all contact details you have for each one.</strong> If none leave blank and go back to later when you will research and find them through social networks. Decide whether you will get in touch with each one by phone, skype, In person, Facebook, Text, Email or however else is available to you. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>5) </strong><strong>Highlight the ones that have qualities about them</strong> that can bring value to your business such as they are sociable and like to help people, or they already are successful in business, or they are leaders in the community, or they are just plain nice positive people, or they live in France where you would love to have business etc. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>6) </strong><strong>Decide exactly what you are going to say BEFORE you call</strong>. If you’re working with a mentor follow their system and trust in the process. Usually they will have guidelines for you on what to say and how to say it.  Stick to the system and don’t try to reinvent the wheel here.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>7) </strong><strong>Practice and role play with your partner</strong>, a friend or your mentor before you do your first calls. The process should be simple but still it is best to practice and be as confident as you can.  If you’re nervous just pretend for a little while that you’re not. Once you start you’ll find your fear dissipates just by facing it and taking action.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong> <img src='http://rachelhenke.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif' alt='8)' class='wp-smiley' /> </strong><strong>Notify your ‘hot market’ and ask for referrals.</strong> We all have people who are so close to us that we feel they won’t take us that seriously in business. Just let them know you’ve started a new business and you wonder if they might know anyone who might be looking for XXX (whatever your service or business model is) If they are open and supportive they may be curious and want to take a look anyway.  Ask them to pass on your info or follow up with them normally if they do show interest. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>9) </strong><strong>Invite and/or notify your warm market.</strong> If you’re in <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Network Marketing</a> I highly recommend that you directly invite your warm market people to take a look. Don’t decide for them and presume they do not need an opportunity.  If you just can&#8217;t bear to do the direct approach then use the indirect referral approach but use one or the other. Here is the script we use: </span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="background-color: #ffff00;"><span style="color: #000000;"> If you want your candidate to watch an online video you say this:</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>“Hi John, its Mary, this is a quick call.  I’ve just started this exciting part-time business to create more cash flow. I don’t know if it’s going to be something for you, but I think it’s important that you take a look.” (Use your own words but stick to the point and keep it short)</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>John can only give one possible response to this so you need to be ready for it. </em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>“What is it?” says John.</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>“I’ve only just got started but I have this video overview for you to watch.  You’ll be able to get all of the details so IF I send you a link to the video will you watch it?”</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>“Sure” says John.</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>“Great. When do you think you’ll get a chance to watch it?”</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>XXX says John</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong><em>“Ok so if I call you tomorrow after XXX you’ll have seen it and I can get your feedback? What time is best for you?”</em></strong></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">If you’re in any other home business and don’t have a business option for your circle of influence then I recommend you notify them and ask for referrals.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
<strong>10)</strong> <strong>Do this if you want to launch your business fast.</strong> You will be able to learn networking skills quickly. If you ignore the people you already know you will need to spend all your time creating a new contact list and meeting new people. You will need to do this later anyway but for launching, your results &amp; skill building will come from the people who already know, like and trust you.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;"><strong>Final words:</strong> If they’re negative just thank them and move on. Don’t get into any debates with them. People you know sometimes want to look out for you and may try to steal your dream intentionally or unintentionally. Don’t let them but don’t argue either!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Think of all of your contacts as your expanding social network. Start to be a professional networker by keeping their details in an organised manner. Stay in touch with people and add them to your online social networks.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size: small;">Always use the tools you have. Don’t explain stuff unless you’re in a sales model. Just point people to tools (video, website, live presentation etc.)</span></p>

I&#8217;ve been thinking a lot about what the winners in <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">network marketing</a> do versus the people who have some success but next thing you know they&#8217;ve switched to another company or are promoting the latest hi-tech gizmo.</p>
<p>My question for you today is; Are you in this for the long term? Or are you just spinning your wheels and hopping around from opportunity to opportunity with no system and no long term plan?</p>
<p>You can earn some good quick money from selling the latest hi-tech stuff. Goodness me there is so much to choose from you could do <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/ninjaaffiliate" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/ninjaaffiliate';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">affiliate marketing</a> all day long and if you get good at it you can make some nice money. <strong>But it&#8217;s usually not residual.</strong></p>
<p>So the reason I&#8217;m asking you whether you&#8217;re in this for the long term is because I know how easy it is to be distracted from building your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Network Marketing</a> business.</p>
<p>We all want to make money TODAY and that&#8217;s great. There&#8217;s nothing wrong (in my opinion) with promoting some <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/ninjaaffiliate" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/ninjaaffiliate';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">affiliate</a> programs that compliment what you&#8217;re doing online.</p>
<p><strong>Some simple examples of these would be:</strong></p>
<p>An auto-responder service</p>
<p>A blog theme service</p>
<p>A domain name service</p>
<p>Personal development &#8216;stuff&#8217;</p>
<p>Internet Marketing Training</p>
<p>The danger (and I&#8217;ve seen this a lot since I really mastered working online) is that people can become so absorbed and fascinated with learning how to blog and make capture pages that they conveniently FORGET to prospect for their <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business!</p>
<p><strong>Oh that&#8217;s so &#8216;old school,&#8217; they say, and wrinkle up their nose.</strong></p>
<p>I&#8217;ve been saying this all along but people can have selective hearing. Listen to me today if you haven&#8217;t done before.</p>
<p>A blog can be fabulous. A capture page can be fabulous. Bringing people to your site and having them sign up to receive your emails is completely fabulous. I&#8217;d be lying if I didn&#8217;t say it was.</p>
<p>BUT and this is a big BUT. If you wait for people to come to you to ask you about your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">network marketing</a> business and you are only having a couple of hits to your site per day (or are still sitting in a darkened room trying to figure out how to connect Twitter with Facebook) you may have a LOOOOOONG wait before you get a team going in your business.</p>
<p>
If you want to use online tools to be more efficient that&#8217;s fine but you must ALSO do the fundamentals. You must work the list of people you know and you must pick up the phone to connect with people you are meeting online and offline.</p>
<p>If you fail to do this you will spend lots of wasted hours, days or months clicking around online trying to figure out how to sponsor people you don&#8217;t know.  Save yourself the hassle.  Even if you become amazing at generating leads you still need to speak to people to find out who they are and what they want to achieve.</p>
<p><strong>You don&#8217;t want to work with just ANYBODY do you?</strong></p>
<p>The internet is a tool and you need to make connections and then CONNECT, preferably with your phone. </p>
<p>
Your new people need to have a system and marketing plan to use so they can be in business the minute they sign up. If they need to sit and figure out how to create a blog before they can get going what do you think the chances are of them quitting before they even speak to their first prospect?</p>
<p><strong>This can be one of the scariest things for a new person</strong>. Contacting the people they know. The thing is that if they don&#8217;t, they are not developing the basic skills they need to learn how to build a <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">network marketing</a> business.</p>
<p><strong>You can&#8217;t jump to advanced BEFORE you do the basics.  That goes for everything so how are you doing on the basics?</strong></p>

<p><strong>What if their situation has changed?</strong> As I&#8217;m unable to be present (and don&#8217;t really want to be!) at every local networking event how on earth would they stay in touch with me?</p>
<p><strong>This is a classic example of how most networkers are shown to build their candidate list and prospect everyone on it and follow up until they jump off the fence either way.</strong></p>
<p>What then? Some of you may be groaning now as you see where I&#8217;m going with this.</p>
<p>Imagine if I (after 7 years of prospecting) had kept every contact through the trillions of leads I bought back in the day and all the networking I&#8217;ve done. And what If I&#8217;d kept all the emails of my team members who&#8217;ve slipped away?</p>
<p>Wow can you imagine how many people I&#8217;d be able to stay in touch with just by sending them the odd email with some cool stuff I&#8217;m learning along the way?</p>
<p><strong>I&#8217;m willing to bet there are 6 figure networkers amongst you who don&#8217;t have a list that you can easily communicate with, of all your contacts from the years you&#8217;ve been building the business.</strong></p>
<p>You may say &#8216;well I can find them in my outlook or they&#8217;re in my phone.&#8217; What about when you change your phone or your computer dies and you shift to a new one and lose all those email addresses and numbers?</p>
<p>I know it happens cause it has happened to me. SO. What can YOU do today even if you have no BLOG and no capture page and are a complete tecnno twit?</p>
<p><strong>What is your strategy for offering them value to keep them connected with you, rather than phoning them up every 6 months to see if they&#8217;re &#8216;ready&#8217; to give you their credit card number?</strong> They may never be ready for your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business but they might be ready to buy an <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> product or a cool marketing product from you. (No and before you think of excuses you don&#8217;t need to make one yourself!)</p>
<p>Start reconnecting with ALL of the people you know inc. the dreaded friends and family and just ask them if you can pop them on your email list to stay in touch with them now and then so they can forward on the info to anyone they know who might find it helpful.</p>
<p>This is for you if you&#8217;ve got piles of old contacts that didn&#8217;t join your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> &#8211; do you think they might buy an <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> product from you down the road if you were to stay in touch with them &#8230; AND</p>
<p><strong>It&#8217;s ALSO for you newbies (I know you&#8217;re there) who think you have nothing to offer cause you&#8217;re not a &#8216;GURU.&#8217; You don&#8217;t need to be a guru to build your own list.</strong></p>
<p>From now on everyone you meet, instead of breaking out in a cold sweat about how you&#8217;re gonna &#8216;get em in&#8217; your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a>, focus on how you can be in touch with them again.</p>
<p>Collect their card and or get their name to connect on Facebook. If they are business people ask them if you can add them to your mailing list so you can be in touch with them now.</p>
<p>You see how it works?</p>
<p><strong>If you have an auto-responder (with 12 peeps in it!) get cracking.</strong> You can add them easily to a list of say &#8216;local business people&#8217; or &#8216;family and friends&#8217; and just drop them an informal email to let them know you will be sending them stuff that may help them or someone they know. (They can opt out if they don&#8217;t want to be on it but just ask them if it&#8217;s ok)</p>
<p>If you are truly doing this, by the end of the year you could have thousands of people on your list ranging from the local right through to peeps you meet on holiday or <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> trips.</p>
<p><strong>Warning. If you don&#8217;t do this you are gambling. Will they join my <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> now or not? Yes = cool<br />
No = complete waste of time and no relationship building and no long term safety net</strong></p>
<p>Ok getting the idea? Even if you have no auto-responder (come on guys its $9 a month to build your security) you can still do this even with a card box or manual emails. Not my cup of tea but really there are no excuses for not being in touch with people over a long period of time.</p>

<p><strong>Do what you know how to do today. Don&#8217;t make excuses.</strong> If you only have an empty card filebox like this then use it. That is the start of your &#8216;list,&#8217; The golden nugget here is that you must make a way to stay in touch with these people even when they are not just current customers or prospects.</p>
<p>I made thousands and thousands of pounds with this box and you can do the same with your list even if you have no one on it yet. We all know people and you can start to add them not sell them!</p>
<p><strong>Social networking has made it thousands of times easier to reconnect so start rebuilding your connections today.</strong> I&#8217;m gonna add all those people on these cards to a list and drop them a little email. If there&#8217;s no email I&#8217;ll be looking for them on Facebook or phoning them just to reconnect and ask if its ok to add them to my mailing list to stay in touch.</p>

<p>The first observation in the book that really hit me was, &#8216;Talk is cheap, everybody does it.&#8217; </p>
<p><strong>Everyone is so busy talking but so many are NOT listening!</strong> Waiting for the other person to stop talking so we can jump in and say our piece, is a habit that we need to get control of to become successful in connecting with other people.</p>
<p>This is the key for prospecting and team building in <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a>. If you spend most of your time with your prospect talking AT them, as so many do, by the end of your time together you may suddenly realise that you didn&#8217;t even manage to establish what their motivation for possibly joining your team would be!</p>
<p>I&#8217;ve done it and have certainly been guilty as charged. Have you?</p>
<p><strong>Do you spend so much time talking about how great your company or team is that you forget to CONNECT with your prospect and find out what THEY really want?</strong></p>
<p>John Maxwell&#8217;s book is not a heavy read but does give you nutritious food for thought. &#8216;Everyone Communicates, Few Connect,&#8217; will take you through the basics, right through to the more advanced strategies of how to really connect with people.</p>
<p>A recurring theme in the book is the need to <strong>&#8216;add value&#8217;</strong> to people. This is so relevant for marketing your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Network Marketing</a> or <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business online with new technology.</p>
<p>You&#8217;ve probably heard many times in your marketing studies that you need to add value. By adding value you become more attractive to your prospects.</p>
<p>People will join your &#8216;list&#8217; and more importantly stay in it IF and only IF you add value to their lives.</p>
<p>They are being pitched and sold all day long, every day. It can be very tiresome so the way to stand out from the crowd online (and off!) is to really focus on adding value.</p>
<p>This is even more critical for online marketing because you need to first attract your prospects&#8217; attention in this busy internet highway!</p>
<p><strong>Maxwell covers connecting one-on-one, in a group or with an audience so this book is valuable for all business building activities, and will teach you how to become a more effective networker.</strong></p>
<p>I do read many books that are specialised <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">Network Marketing</a> books but I also recognise the immense value in studying with leaders in other fields.</p>
<p>You can pick up many fresh leadership ideas by reading others leaders&#8217; work and applying it to your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business.</p>
<p>People are people at the end of the day, and it doesn&#8217;t matter what business you are in, you must learn to effectively influence them if you are to be successful.</p>
<p>John Maxwell has such a genuine voice that leaps of the page and easily engages you.</p>
<p>You can tell that he really cares about connecting, and one of the best tips I found in the book was, <strong><em>&#8216;the best advice I can give you is for you to learn how to be yourself.&#8217;</em></strong></p>
<p>It&#8217;s worth taking a few moments to reflect on that one. It could be a major breakthrough for you.</p>
<p>Another golden nugget I found was: <strong><em>&#8216;Any message you try to convey must contain a piece of you.&#8217;</em></strong> I took this to mean that your readers or listeners will know if you are not being authentic.</p>
<p><strong>There are some great examples through the book so it is an interactive experience of reading, thinking and learning. Here are a few:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>What we say accounts for only 7 percent of what is believed.</li>
<li>The way we say it accounts for 38 percent.</li>
<li>What others see accounts for 55 percent.</li>
</ul>

<p>With the Information Age come time management challenges like the world has never seen before!</p>
<p>Yes we all have our usual time management challenges such as managing our jobs and businesses.</p>
<p><strong>You may be busy caring for your children and juggling lots of other commitments but on top of that we now have information coming at us through the internet cables at such a speed it makes your head spin.</strong></p>
<p><a href="http://rachelhenke.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/bigben.jpg"><img src="http://rachelhenke.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/bigben.jpg" alt="" title="bigben" width="170" height="113" class="alignright size-full wp-image-1513" /></a></p>
<p>This is the best thing. No that&#8217;s the best thing. And on it goes on; day after day.</p>
<p>Marketers (like me!) trying to get and keep your attention.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m going to be really straight with you and tell you what I think you need to do (and not to do!) to stay sane and moving forward with your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business in this crazy internet world!</p>
<p><strong>Top Tips for Time Management for <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a></strong></p>
<p>1) Do not sign up for everything! You will never read it all, follow it all and will probably end up confused and do nothing.</p>
<p><strong>2) Pick one or two people that give great value in the area that you want to master (you might for instance receive my weekly ezines because you want to learn how to attract prospects to your online)</strong></p>
<p>3) Study what your new mentors teach and start to IMPLEMENT the best strategies that can work for the <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> of your choice</p>
<p><strong>4) Focus on what you CAN DO; not what you can&#8217;t do. Take baby steps but monitor yourself so you are moving forward with your to do lists everyday</strong>.</p>
<p>5) Make yourself a schedule everyday BEFORE you start work. Put specific times for beginning and ending activities. Then move on! Don&#8217;t waste time chit chatting on the internet and reading gossip and news.</p>
<p><strong>6) Include 30 minutes- 1 hour of prospecting time for each day. This may be from your warm market list or for calling back your prospects that have come into your marketing funnel to request more info about your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a>. Don&#8217;t buy into this deluded idea that you can build an <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business without picking up the phone!</strong></p>
<p>7) Counsel with your upline. If your upline stinks go further upline! If there is no one who can support you there then you might want to ask yourself if you&#8217;re batting with the right team. You have two choices; become the upline or move to a team where you can get better coaching and leadership. It all works but do one or the other and don&#8217;t waste time moaning!</p>
<p><strong> <img src='http://rachelhenke.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_cool.gif' alt='8)' class='wp-smiley' /> Create a 90 day plan. Your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business is built through creating momentum. This comes from CONSISTENCY. If you speak to 2 people this week (and I don&#8217;t care if you found them in Tesco&#8217;s or they came to you through your magical online funnel) it is not enough. You are playing the LOTTERY. 2 people a day bring freedom your way is the old cliché and it still rings true today. With online marketing you need more than that so that 2 people a day are actually looking at your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> presentation</strong>.</p>
<p>9) Record your marketing and prospecting activity. Then you will know why you got the results you did when you review your business. 90 Day plan means head down and don&#8217;t keep stopping and questioning yourself. Just do it. 90 days of real consistent activity. 90 days will pass very quickly whether you do it or not so why not do it? My God it may even work! You might start signing people up that came to your through the internet (or wherever!) Imagine …</p>
<p><strong>10)  Turn off all distractions. Prospecting time means you are making outgoing calls to prospects. Do just that; don&#8217;t try to reply on skype and message on Facebook at the same time. Networking time is different to prospecting time. Control your time so you are proactive not reactive. If you are reactive all the time you will probably never get anything done except responding to other people&#8217;s needs</strong>.</p>

<p>Before I joined &#8216;<a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a>&#8216; I dabbled with direct selling businesses and party plans to so it&#8217;s fair to say I&#8217;ve done A LOT of &#8216;scary&#8217; stuff!</p>
<p>The best way I have found to get results and to train and duplicate with your team is to have scripts for you to follow.</p>
<p><strong>When I joined my first <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> I was selling £150+ ($250) weight loss programs with just a phone script on the first call.</strong> I also signed up lots of prospects for the business at the £199 level and then upgraded them to £2700 or $4000. &#8216;Gulp,&#8217; you say. &#8216;Wow I thought it was tough enough getting someone to enrol at the $1000 level!&#8217;</p>
<p>Yep and it can be but it&#8217;s all the same really. If you have a good funnel, drive leads into it and have a step by step system for enrolling people I don&#8217;t think the price is really an issue.</p>
<p><strong>So step 3 is about getting organized so you and your team know EXACTLY what you are going to say on each and every call with your prospects.</strong></p>
<p>Figure out a script that works with your <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> team funnel. The first one we use is an <strong>&#8216;interview process,&#8217;</strong> where we find out more about the prospect and discover whether we are likely to be a match.</p>

Dani is the queen of scripts and really helps you overcome prospect objections and get them signed up quickly.</p>
<p>At this point they have seen or about to see our &#8216;first exposure tool,&#8217; which is a video. We use a short video with Randy Gage for this.</p>
<p><strong>If the interview is satisfactory they move forward to review the presentation tool which is a 30 minute presentation of our <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> team and company. The one we use is done by Eric Worre.</strong></p>
<p>You can use something created by your upline leaders &#8211; they don&#8217;t have to know anything about online marketing to do this of course. This is the real meat of the <a href="http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing" style="" target="_blank" rel="nofollow" onmouseover="self.status='http://rachelhenke.com/networkmarketing';return true;" onmouseout="self.status=''">MLM</a> business that you want to be sharing at this point.</p>
<p><strong>Use the tools to do the presenting and you focus on INTERVIEWING and  LISTENING to your prospects.</strong></p>
<p>After they&#8217;ve watched the video you&#8217;ll need a sign up script to follow. You can do this on a 3 way call with your team members to assist them to enrol their prospects and to welcome the new members to the team.</p>
<p><strong><u>Top Tip</u></strong></p>
<p>Introduce your new team members to your upline mentor ASAP. This reduces the &#8216;buyer&#8217;s remorse&#8217; or cold feet your prospects may sometimes suffer from when they have made a quick decision due to your effective phone scripts.</p>
