Well it’s difficult for me to take this seriously but some marketers are getting all steamed up about it.
Heated debate rages at search.twitter.com so if you want to take a peek type in ‘tweetergetter’
Mike Klingler, of Renegade University, said it’s an interesting social experiment although you must play at your own risk! He predicts it has the potential to be a very exciting list builder, but of course could just be a flash in the pan.
Randy Gage tweeted that it’s not cool and is a Twitter chain letter. The big name marketers have their reputations to protect so they’re very cautious which is understandable.
The way I see it is like this…at this point I have anything from 5-15 friend requests on Facebook every day and most of them are from people that I have never heard of before.
I’m very happy to connect with new faces and am an open networker so I don’t see that there is all that much difference here. Whether lists are built fast or slow on twitter and facebook you will soon lose all your twitter buddies if you behave like a supertwit!
Anyway I’m always one for an adventure so I set it up after I’d been sent the link about 7 times. Interesting marketing number right? I thought what the heck, let’s see how it works.
So far after only pinging it once across my network I have gained 31 followers this afternoon. Tomorrow I’ll have a look at who was caught in my twitter net, so the jury’s still out.
What do you think about it?
If you’re an adventurous soul and want to take a chance on twitter check it out here. It only takes 30 seconds and is fairly painless.
