Just a quick one today. I’ve received the first copies of my new book ‘The Niche Expert,’ and as it’s my first book that has been published by a ‘real publisher,’ and in paperback, you can probably imagine how thrilled I am.
I’ve been dreaming of being a published author ever since I raced through Enid Blyton’s ‘Famous Five’ Series of 21 books back to back.
And when my renegade 80 year old Grandma read Catherine Cookson’s ‘The Girl’ to me at bedtime, I was horrified but hooked!
So the second I received my very own book the first person I wanted to call was my beloved Father.
Yes I’m no kid but I guess you could say I was always a Daddy’s girl.
My mum died suddenly when I was only five so my Dad had to compensate and he did that very well although it was so challenging at times as we moved around the country together when I was a small child.
The book is dedicated to him and I know he would be so proud but oh how I wish I could just call him today instead.
So this is a gentle nudge to pick up the phone and call those special people in your life today to tell them that you love them.
It’s so easy to put off doing.
You’re busy I know.
My Dad, Percy, knew I loved him because I told him often.
But how I wish I could tell him one last time today.
So don’t forget to tell the special people in your life that you love them …
This is the beautiful garden in the Island of Jersey where he rests:

Hi Rachel, I’m very happy for you. I know it’s a big thrill to have that first paperback edition of your book out! And as for telling the special people in your life that you love them…thanks for saying that. There are some that I wish I could see just one more time to say that….we must not wait until it’s too late.
