I’m thrilled to announce the launch of HBRN, The Home Business Radio Network & my own show on the network.

The mission for HBRN is to provide 24/7 positive powered radio for home business entrepreneurs.

When Doug Firebaugh invited me to host my own show on the network I was very excited because I know this radio network will give many of us an incredible chance to reach people all around the world with our important message.

Home Business Radio Network is streaming out to 65 countries and there is an impressive line up of show hosts sharing training and tips for home business, network marketing and all types of home based enterprise.

I named my show ‘The Rachelhenke.com Show’ and will be sharing training on niche marketing, internet marketing, affiliate marketing, personal development and much more.

I’ll be interviewing experts in their niche and innovative entrepreneurs that have something unique to share with listeners.  I’ll also be doing book reviews and sharing tips and takeaways from the many books I read.

For a steady stream of positive powered training, great music and positive home business news (yes really!) tune into the Home Business Radio Network.

I took my two girls to see Warhorse at the cinema yesterday.

Nothing like a snug Sunday afternoon watching an uplifting movie with your loved ones is there?

We got there just in time for the ‘start.’ 

Although we go to see a ton of movies, for some reason I really paid attention to the masterful marketing ‘presentation’ at this one.

These guys have us paying to literally watch them cross sell us on more movies. (Their other products)

Then they do a mesmerising job of upselling us into their monthly subscription so we can watch more of those great movies and pay less. (Their membership programme)

Meanwhile if you love sweet popcorn like us you’ll be munching and sipping on the most expensive snacks anywhere in town.  Period.

Thirty minutes we sat there watching the trailers aka. reviewing their other products.

The prices in the cinema for popcorn and fizzy drinks etc. are insane aren’t they?

The truth is I don’t mind paying because I pay for the whole feel good experience (and I love fresh sweet popcorn) but if you pay attention next time you go you’ll see expert marketers at the top of their game.

So for all I’ve often advised not to waste time watching T.V etc. there are in fact million $ lessons to be learned both in the T.V breaks and at the cinema.

My hubbie has what I have named an acute case of remoteitis – this involves obsessively flicking from channel to channel during commercial breaks and quite frankly whenever he gets the chance to watch two things simultaneously.

We won’t even get into the football mania today!

From now on I’m going to retain control of the remote when I can and invest some time observing the advertising campaigns on T.V. 

Why not try it? That way you have a good ‘excuse’ to chill out to your favourite programme now and then but also pick up some expert marketing lessons at the same time.

In the UK I don’t think we have the infamous ‘Infomercials’ like in the US.  Just as well or I’d probably be up half the night studying and buying stuff because I can’t resist great marketing!

I’ve been meaning to read Dan Kennedy’s book on Time Management but I haven’t had time.  Just kidding!

Seriously though isn’t this time thing a huge issue?

If you’re working online a lot it can really get the better of you.

One minute you’re ‘on task’ and things are flowing beautifully and the next … Pffffffff  you’ve fallen down a black hole somewhere en route from email island to the distant galaxy of Facebook! 

Discipline is something that can help you not to do this but discipline alone doesn’t seem to help me clicking on things that are popping up with exciting updates!

The only way I manage to get my ‘assignments’ done is to schedule specific blocks of time for them AND to turn off my fun applications such as Hootsuite and Facebook.

Of course there is a time to Facebook but that’s in your schedule right?

If time’s literally getting the better of you it can be difficult to accomplish your goals and reach your dreams.

I’d love to hear what little things you have in place to make sure you stay on track and don’t disappear down the black hole of Facebook!

One of the important marketing and business skills you need to develop is the ability to observe world class marketers in action so that you can start to model their strategies and behaviour where appropriate WITHOUT feeling ‘sold to.’

I’m always intrigued to hear people say things like ‘she was trying to sell to me,’ or ‘he was always selling something,’ when they sign up to receive marketing training from a marketer!

I mean how can you or (they) for that matter learn world class marketing skills if they don’t like being sold to? 

I know I may be a bit unusual but when someone ‘gets’ me on the phone and starts to try to upsell me on something and they do it with real skill I actually enjoy it.

Okay told you I’m unusual so now you know!  We’re not robots – we’re thinking individuals but often we’ve been programmed to follow the ‘herd’ and do what everyone else is doing.

But what do most other people do?

They complain with a capital C cause for some reason complaining is considered cool in many circles.

But you are different because you want to develop a lifestyle that the complainers can only dream about don’t you?

That’s why you can’t allow yourself to be programmed with that lack mentality.

If you won’t invest in yourself it’s unlikely that people will invest in you and your services because they will feel the quick buck syndrome is at play.

When people offer me money for my consulting or services if I don’t genuinely believe I can help them and they are someone I can deliver huge value to I don’t take their money.

I’m serious. My time, my craft and my reputation is worth everything to me and I won’t risk it for a quick buck.

Have a think about that and how you will or do operate when people offer you money for your services.

What I want to teach you or remind you of is that you can pick and choose the programmes, products and services that trainers connect you up with …

I am not attached to whether you as an individual buy from me or sign up with me for consulting or whatever.

This is a process where my mission is to teach you what I learn as I learn and develop it.

So when I show you something cool it’s because I have personally invested my own time, energy and GUTS into developing it OR I’ve studied with a master (or mistress) who is passing it on to me.

I want to pass it on to you but will you accept it?

That is entirely up to you and I suggest you invest in yourself where appropriate but not treat your business like a mad shopping spree in Oxford Street at Christmas!

You are responsible for your cash flow – not your coach, nor your upline or even your partner.

Think about the skills you need to develop and figure out where and how you want to learn them and with whom.

Do you enjoy being sold to or do you feel uncomfortable about it?

If you’re blessed to be an all out go getter who can’t wait to get on stage, host your own radio show or be in the newspaper you’re one of a handful in the crowd.

Many business owners and entrepreneurs have no desire to hold court on stage and be a celebrity.

In fact the very thought of it might be making you cringe right now!

With the borders of new media and business blending faster by the second you can be forgiven for thinking that if you’re more of a retiring type you don’t stand a chance.

So I’m writing this for you today.

And if you’re an all out go getter you’d do well to pay attention too because if you’re in the how-to or expert industry the chances are you’ll be helping people who fall into both camps as well as somewhere in the middle.

Take heart because whether you’re extremely reserved or you’re a full on celebrity type there is a place for you in the expert industry.

It’s more important to consider whether you have a genuine desire to help people and again that can be in different ways.

I’ve been thinking about this dilemma lately as I scale up my ‘expert’ training model and can see that all the training from the gurus seems to be geared to celebrities.

What about the others then?

When I was younger I had a lot of issues with confidence and if you’d told me that these days I’d be broadcasting my message out through many different media channels I’m not sure I’d have believed you.

Okay I would have believed I’d be writing, but not speaking on stage and radio because I was petrified to stand in front of the class, never mind give a presentation!

But the beautiful thing about being an entrepreneur or fledgling home business owner is that you can put yourself in a position to develop your skills and with that your confidence builds together with your business.

I’m a very different person in many ways today than I was when I got started.  I’ve had to break down many self erected barriers to achieve the things that I wanted to achieve.

As a result of a traumatic childhood I had phobias and fears that seriously affected my ability to be happy and fulfil my potential.

I still battle with personal issues on an ongoing basis because after all I’m alive and human as are you!

This is why I wrote Confidence in High Heels – I know just how many women and of course men struggle with overcoming fear before they can achieve their full potential.

Don’t let that put you off because the expert business model is all about giving value by being unique and sharing your gifts.

There are always other people who will respond better to you than they might to me and other experts.

It’s just the way it is so if you’re not a full on extrovert don’t let that steal your dream of making a difference in the world and of course making money with your own home business.

There is no prototype for how you have to be to succeed whether online or off.  Look around you and you’ll see a myriad of experts, gurus, coaches and marketers.

There is a place for you if you’re willing to develop your skills, your voice and your confidence.

You can write, do video, share audio, consult, coach, go on stage, speak on teleseminars or not.  You can even pay someone to make content for you.

The choice is yours and you can create your online empire to suit YOU.

Millions of online marketers are quietly making a very handsome living by simply recommending products that they like through their own niche websites.  This is known as affiliate marketing.

I will be sharing more on how to build niche websites as I set up more of my own this year.

You see you don’t even have to have your own products if that’s just not your thing or you’re not ready for that.

So my message to you today is don’t count yourself out – put yourself in the game and begin wherever you are now.

Give yourself a chance and you might just be amazed in a year or two at what you have accomplished!

Not everyone wants to focus on clients.

Clients are wonderful but let’s face it – working one on one can be very taxing work.

If you’re a coach or consultant then it is of course what you do but you could still think about upgrading your business model to include group coaching so you are working ‘one to many.’ 

Working one to one is invaluable for gaining experience, real time market research in the field and to make sure you have your niche nailed.

You also need to gather testimonials and feel confident with your clients’ results so that you are an expert.

So don’t overlook it.  Find a way that you enjoy whether one to one or one to many, online or offline to serve your ideal clients and then you will quickly accumulate the data to know EXACTLY what they need and want enough to pay for.

That’s the unsexy bit of building a niche expert business unless you really love working one on one all the time.

Personally I love working one on one with a small number of hand picked clients in conjunction with writing and offering my other training courses and products.

This allows me loads of flexible time to get into the flow of doing what I love most; writing and creating stuff.

Everyone talks about the exciting bit of attracting millions of people, being in the media and making a difference around the world.

All of that is fabulous and part of the model I teach and follow BUT you need to get the foundation in place first.

If you’re fed up of thinking about how to get more clients and you’ve done your work in the trenches that’s when you can up your game.

Now is the time to start planning your sexy niche expert business.

Map out using Freemind or a pen and paper exactly what type of information products , seminars, courses and events you want to include in your business model.

The sky is the limit as long as you follow the expert formula and you truly can do what you love to do and make a huge difference to people around the world whilst still having a life!

That’s the leverage that an internet based niche expert business gives you.

You decide how far you go and how many products you have and what you roll out to your people.

When should you begin building your dream house?

‘When it’s finished,’ is the answer given to us by world class business philosopher, Jim Rohn.

It’s similar to building your expert internet empire.  You should only begin when you’ve made your plan and mapped it all out. 

If you’ve already begun and are in a muddle or feel your empire needs some work then that’s fine because it’s never too late to restore what you have or begin again!

I was watching a programme the other day called, ‘The Restoration Man,’ and became fascinated watching this young architect plan how to restore this once beautiful 19^th century water tower.

It was incredible to witness his stamina as he went to work on this empty shell of a building with big dreams and a perfect vision of what a beautiful home this water tower would become.

Most wouldn’t even be able to see what he saw.

Most wouldn’t turn up to work on their dream every night after a hard day at work.

But he wasn’t most men.

He was beginning with the end in mind and creating a solid foundation by implementing his plan brick by brick.

He turned the 19^th century derelict water tower into an opulent family home within 12 months!

Building an expert business is also a labour of love.  It’s not always easy.

Sometimes people you aim to serve won’t see the value in what you offer.

Sometimes you may doubt yourself.

Sometimes you may not feel like doing the work.

And that’s okay too.

As long as you can begin with the end in mind and know where you’re going it won’t be long before you pull yourself together and get back on track.

You have to know where you’re going and you have to have a plan so that when you waver you can remind yourself of exactly how your expert empire will look when you have done the work.

Visual reminders are very powerful so if you don’t yet have your expert empire and marketing funnel mapped out begin today.

Begin with the end in mind and it won’t be too long before you too see your dream coming together blog by blog and video by video.

One piece of content at a time is all it takes.

The big question is can you see it?

Lots of business owners who are just finding their way online don’t understand Affiliate Marketing at all and are missing out on some great streams of income.

If you want to tap into these rich veins of income first of all you need to tget clear on your niche (unless you want to work in multiple niches.) 

Once you’re clear on your niche or niches take a look at which products, courses or tools can be helpful to you.

Let’s say you are an author and want to build a big following online.

You have a book you want to promote so you’re getting started with that and it’s all cool.

How about if you could add in some extra income streams so that while your book picks up momentum and you master your craft you are not dependent solely on your book income?

My publisher teaches the concept of becoming a wealthy author and it’s completely in line with being a niche expert.

Unless you have an immediate best seller on your hands the chances are you’ll need to find other ways to create income as making big money with books can be tough.

So back to choosing some complimentary affiliate programmes you can promote.

In the author’s case you would be advised to learn all about internet marketing so there are many courses and books you can promote.

The best way to find them is to do a search for specific things you want to learn and seriously consider taking some good courses so that you get the skills to market successfully online.

As you develop your skills you can promote the courses and books that you yourself are taking or reading.

It’s very easy and all you need to do is mention the courses in your blog posts or articles and include your affiliate link so that interested readers can purchase the course too.

EBooks give a much higher affiliate return than paperbacks so consider researching some eBooks on topics that are of interest to you and then you rinse and repeat.

By using and sharing courses and books you can pay for your education but also make some extra money if you choose good ones with high commissions.

I prefer 50% or more commission programmes and I favour those that are available all year round so that your blog posts and website reviews can be working for you 365 days and 24/7 while you sleep.

Tools are another good area to promote as an affiliate.  With internet and social media marketing there are tons of tools so just pick your favourites.

One of my favourites is Tribe Pro which enables me to have other business professionals syndicate my blog posts to the social bookmarking sites on auto-pilot!

It’s amazing because submitting your own posts to social bookmarking sites can be extremely tiresome and I found I just wasn’t getting round to doing it.

Do you see how in this real life example I can recommend a tool and also give value to my reader?

It’s that simple so once you’ve set up your blog begin looking for courses, books and tools that you can recommend in your niche and before long you’ll have some nice flowing income streams.

I see a lot of people building really pretty websites and ‘branding’ themselves but many of them don’t have a real business.

Having a fan base with social media is super cool but will it pay the bills?

Short answer – no!

There has to be something behind it to make money and build a long term business.

You’d think this would be common sense wouldn’t you but it seems that many hopeful marketers have jumped online thinking all they need to do is build a fan base and they are gonna get rich!

So what do you need to know to build a real business and not just a fancy fan club?

You need to know how to create products, programmes, events and/or books that you can charge for!

Again you might say ‘doh.’

Say it all you want but I challenge you to look around and see just how many ‘business owners’ are clicking around online shouting from the hilltops about their ‘brand.’

Meanwhile they have just one thing to sell that in many cases is someone else’s brand so it’s no wonder they are struggling to make money and stand out.

I wrote my book ‘The Niche Expert,’ before I discovered Brendan Burchard.

It’s a bit like that phenomena where you buy a yellow car and suddenly yellow cars are all over the place!

Once I spotted my niche (how to help people turn their expertise into a real business) I kept running into the Expert Industry all over the place.

After discovering Brendan Burchard’s intensive training on the Expert Industry I was relieved to find that I had indeed presented the industry and business model correctly in The Niche Expert!

There are all kinds of people creating brands and fan bases for themselves online these days ranging from network marketers, life coaches, consultants, educators, artists to best-selling authors.

So how you put together your products, programmes events and books will depend on what you do and on your short and long term goals.

The sooner you step up and start creating your first product the better or how can you make serious money?

Selling one book isn’t enough unless perhaps you’re JK Rowling and even then if you look closely at her production you’ll see that she has created a brand and sells tons of different things.

There are the movie rights, Harry Potter paraphernalia and a whole series of books, not just one.

She can command any figure she likes for speaking engagements and who knows what other amazing opportunities she has coming at her every day?

This is expert status and she achieved it by doing what she loves, creating ‘things’ to sell to her fans and of course using very powerful marketing.

Look at Dolly Parton. She doesn’t just sing songs.

I’m a big Dolly Parton fan and recently watched a documentary about her. What an inspiration!

Dolly was shrewd enough to retain the rights to all the songs she wrote way before women were in control of their own careers.

Dolly has her own theme park called Dollywood! It’s located in the smoky mountains of Tennessee and compliments her soulful country music perfectly making it a Dolly ‘experience.’

Both of these iconic women spearhead terrific charity projects too so of course when you make this kind of money doing what you love you have the option to give a lot of it away too.

When you’re a brand you can create multiple products, programmes, events, branded ‘stuff’ and all sorts of things that reflect your expert topic or movement.
