I popped into my local library with a copy of my new book ‘The Niche Expert.’
The manager was more than happy to help me get some free publicity and
scheduled me in for a session at the library in December where I’ll be able
to talk to people about my book and sell signed copies.
Cool or what?
Who says it’s hard to get people to help you out?
If you struggle with attracting people to help you to get your message out
practice asking more … it really works.
And if that’s not enough, the library will also advertise my book in the local
newsletters and magazines for me to get the word out on when I’ll be
there signing books.
So that’s how to get paid advertising done for you by creating a win win
situation.
My success got me in the mood for world domination so then I nipped up
to a local bookstore and the owner put my book in the window and said I’m welcome to bring a poster in with book details and she’ll display that too.
Word of mouth is powerful so even if you’re a full on internet babe like
me, don’t ignore your free local publicity and promotional opportunities.
Think about how you can adapt my example for your business.
It doesn’t have to be a book.
Think about where you can give talks, display information about your
products and services and how you can maximise your advertising
(for instance, ask for an editorial if you pay for a small lineage advert)
in a publication that reaches your target market.
Think about where your target market hang out both on and
offline and meet them there.
Think out of the box and always be ready and open for business with
sharp business cards, notebook & pen in your bag (may be time to get a man
bag?) and books or products in your car boot!
I’ve quickly learned to always carry more than one book with me!
I’ll be sharing my book marketing and publicity journey with you as I go
so stay tuned for more antics using both on and offline methods.
