Rachels' reply is "right on" in every aspect. Especially important is "giving value". For instance, if your focus is on a product or service, give the benefits. But, if your focus is on a generic training program, give value and stay with the "generic" part without mentioning a company. If they are looking for a company and ask you which one you are with, then sharing is fulfilling their need.
To me, it depends upon how you present your approach. If you are pushing a system that ultimately focuses upon your company, that's fine when indicating that up front.

MLM has a bad reputation because of the many failures of MLM companies. Many people, for whatever reason, fail to make any profit. Very few people understand compensation plans that look good on paper but are difficult to implement or that put the company's interest above the part-time distributors' interest.

To overcome this bad reputation there is a system to evaluate am MLM company to determine which ones will survive the 2-5 year failure rate. At the rate new companies are coming online, this system of evaluation is imperative as never before. It simply requires due diligence on the part of the prospect once they have the checklist.

Hi Vincent

That is a great question and an issue that many people are confused with. Here's how I see it: We can always be proud of the company we represent. There is nothing underhanded about attraction marketing when done right.

We attract people to us and as long as we always have 'giving value' as the first thing in our mind before all else we are kept on the right path.

When we work with guys in other companies who want assistance with their marketing it is not about pitching them in.. it is about building relationships and finding those who are actually looking for a new MLM or leader to work with.

I have many people who come through my affiliate links who are actually looking to get started or for a change... We have nothing to hide but can give value to all in the way that is appropriate.

There is little point using attraction marketing for MLM if we can't convert some of our prospects into our company.. they will be the ones who are looking for us which is a complete reversal on the old pitching model.

When you give value you earn the right to put your offers before the people in your list and they can evaluate for themselves what is of interest to them.

Hope that helps and I will bring this up on our Facebook group and discuss it in more detail. http://tinyurl.com/p38dro

I totally agree with everything you wrote. Although, I want to ad some more thinking to it....

Do we need to hide the company we present ? And do we need to present ourselves as MLM Leader/Coach only to attract people to us and... after a while to our MLM business.

Or can we be proud that we are distributors with company X and always and immediately show the company we present ?
