Social Media Marketing -To Blog or Not To Blog for MLM?

Of all the methods of generating leads online, blogging seems to cause the most angst for networkers!

To blog or not to blog for MLM?

Is it a big waste of time or can it bring high quality prospects to you for your MLM business?

Do you need to be a techie whiz?

These are the kinds of questions I get asked A LOT these days.

So whilst you’ll definitely need some kind of training program to set up your blog and learn how to do it here’s some tips for deciding IF and/or HOW to jump into blogging fast for best results.

Tip 1

Choose the best blog platform for you.

WordPress.Org

If you’re sure you want to create a blog and you know you’re going to follow through on it then I recommend you go with WordPress.org

This is a self-hosted blog which means you’ll need to pay for some hosting and jump through a few technical hoops to get your blog installed and running with all the bells and whistles.

It is really worth it if you will follow through and commit to posting on your blog AT LEAST once per week.

A WordPress blog is online marketing on steroids!

The major advantage of a WordPress blog is that it offers tons more features and flexibility than most other blogging platforms.

It is also a free platform – it’s only the hosting that you pay for and this means you have total control of your blog.

Google Blogspot

This was the blog I started with a couple if years ago and it served its purpose well. I generated a lot of leads with it and was easily found on google. Obviously google likes google blogger as it’s their service!

This is a good blog for you if you really do not want to be bothered with hosting your site and setting up your blog.

This type of blog can be up and running in 5 minutes and you need no html or technical knowledge at all.

It’s a good starter blog but the downside is you don’t own it. Google do, and in theory you could lose it at any time although if you play nicely it’s unlikely to happen.

Tip 2

Get help when you need it

If you have 2 left feet with technical stuff then pay a technical person to install your blog for you. It’s not a big deal but can save you the stress of worrying about it!

It’s up to you but don’t let it be a reason not to take action as both will work very well for you.

The setting up of the blog is not that tricky if you have step by step instructions, and you only need to set it up once!

Tip 3

As you can probably tell from my blog I’m an enthusiastic blogger and highly recommend you blog if you want to develop your MLM business (or any other) online.

Blogging is much like everything else – if you want to do it’s fabulous, if you don’t it can be a real pain!

If you’re happier networking out and about then don’t worry about blogging. A simple lead capture page with your domain name on a business card and on your social media profiles will do nicely.

But if you want to develop the business online in a big way then you really need a blog as that will enable you to drive more traffic to your MLM lead capture page, and people will be able to get to know, like and trust you.

You can come up for the keywords that you want to be found for by blogging about your chosen subjects.

Tip 4

Buy a domain name so that even if you decide to switch from a free blogging site such as google blogger you’ll be able to forward the domain name to your new wordpress blog and not lose all the traffic from the work you’ve already done!

(This applies to all your stuff – always have your own domain name so if you decide to stop using a service you keep your flow of leads.)

Tip 5

Decide if you’re going to do mostly written blog posts or whether you’d prefer to master using video. This would mean you create a VLOG! (Video log)

Or you can do a mix of both. Choose what you are most likely to enjoy doing as that will make your blogging experience much more fun for you.

If you do written posts I still recommend you put a short video on your blog just to welcome your visitors.

This by no means covers all the ins and outs and tremendous possibilities of blogging but it should hopefully give you enough information to get started.

You may even decide that blogging isn’t for you but at least you’ll know what you’re saying no to!

Remember when you enter the blogging world to be patient with yourself. You’ll be learning some new skills which can open up a whole online world to you!

You will need to work your way through some frustration too but once you get the hang of how it works you will probably be an addicted blogger like me!

You’ll be creating your own ‘Online Real Estate’ and can start to brand yourself with your own MLM Blog so that you become an attractive leader for people to work with in your company and country.
