Attraction Marketing for MLM in the New Economy – Part 2

October 16th, 2009 rhenke Comments

Part 2 – Attracting offline prospects to your website without using outdated methods like flyers and cold calling.

At the end of the day we have people we already know to invite to review our MLM business and/or people we don’t know (yet!)

Hopefully you are excited enough about your opportunity to feel positive about sharing it with your key contacts when you first join, and you have some good 3rd party tools and training to plug into to do this.

(3rd party tools just means a DVD, a website, an audio etc. that you can use as a first exposure to see if you have a real prospect and to avoid you having to be the message)

So let’s say you’re just getting started with building your online presence with social media but you’re also out and about, ‘living your life on purpose,’ networking.

How can you get these nice people you’re meeting at local networking events or in your day to day life to take a look at your business, without feeling pushy and salesy?

If we really believe in our MLM business then in this new economy we bear a certain responsibility to give people an opportunity to take a look at our MLM business right?

The majority of people out there in the big world are completely oblivious about ‘old school and new school MLM debate!’ They just don’t care!

What they may care about is finding a business model to plug into that they can use to change their life in this difficult time so I feel it’s important to move through this transitional period in MLM so you feel you have a complete system that works both on and offline.

Let’s look at three scenarios that we may have here:

1) Business networking events such as networking breakfasts etc.

Here people expect to exchange business cards. They come to ‘do business’ and meet new contacts. This is an ideal setting for you to meet professional people in your local area who are business minded.

Over the years I’ve attended so many of these events I’ve pretty much experienced every kind of scenario so nothing would surprise me but the usual format is either you officially pass your business cards around in a little box during the meeting, or you informally network with people and exchange cards with whom you want.

Both are great, the latter tends to be more environmentally friendly and time efficient because you’re not politely accepting cards that you have no interest in!

2) Day to day informal events

You meet an interesting person at a local event for example with your child, or pursuing a hobby of yours, and you are unsure what to do or how to build a relationship with that person although you think you’d very much enjoy working with them and they could be suitable for your business.

3) The ‘one shot’ prospect that would be ‘perfect’ for your business!

The ‘one shot’ prospect is the one you meet at the airport or the underground and will probably never see again. Ok with those guys rather than taking a deep breath and pitching them with all your buzz words, on your business (which I admit I would have done without the blink of an eye in the not too distant past) now you can simply chat about social media and see where they ‘hang out.’

How can you develop these relationships?

It’s probably best if you don’t even mention your business. (If you’re coming back from an International convention waving flags and high on life and jungle juice then you may need to physically hold yourself back!)

With all 3 of these scenarios you can now be less urgent in ‘pitching’ them because social media has opened up communication and the world for us in a dramatic way.

When you meet a great person at a local networking event or you get stuck waiting in the dentist’s surgery for ages and get chatting with a really cool person you can just talk about fun things.

There is no huge urgency which usually turns people right off. To meet someone for the first time and to start chewing their ear off about your business, and yes I know it is probably THE best one, and NEVER been done before.. But let’s face it, it’s a huge turnoff.

Ask questions and just relax into building relationships. Exchange cards if they have one and say you’ll look them up on, wherever it is they said they hang out.

Are they members of ‘Linked In?’ That’s a very formal and professional networking site where you’ll find thousands of interesting candidates.

Or they may be a lover of Facebook, or perhaps they are already into Twitter.

So doesn’t that make it easier and take the pressure off? Discuss the phenomenon of social media, discuss anything and everything that is fun and just connect up with them afterwards online.

No more heavy phone for first ‘follow up’ after the networking events. Phew.. I’m pleased about that.

So back to the main point of this article today; this is how you attract your prospects offline to your online sites. You start by inviting them to be a friend on the social media fun spots or fishing pools such as Facebook, and as a natural progression of your new friendship you’ll be able to expand on what you do as you connect up further.

They will see you are in business and if you position yourself well with an attraction marketing website and a little bio about you, and what information they can get free at your website they may very likely click on it without an invitation. That is so smooth when that happens.

If you need to formally invite them to take a look then once you’ve had a little look at there ’stuff’ online you are a lot more informed about what their interests and passions are. You know who you’re dealing with and can easily connect up with them and send them your link to check out to see if there is any interest there.

Attraction Marketing is not about being online, although that’s where it’s easiest for the majority to practice it. It’s about being a friend and having an attractive offer that encourages people to network with you and want to find out more about what you do.

Okay I’m wrapping this up now. I do hope that’s given you some enthusiasm to get social networking both on and offline and start leveraging your time with your website.

No flyers as I promised! Such a blessing for Network Marketing in the UK because it rains so often we are just not suited for flyering.

p.s this is a GREAT way for contacting your ‘chicken list!’ You know the guys that you feel you need to notify that you’re in business because in some way they could be an asset to your team, but perhaps you are intimidated by their success or position. These are usually the best prospects in your network circle so don’t ignore them through fear – just touch base with them using social media if you can’t bring yourself to call them.

p.s.s All of this works 100 x more efficiently when you have an attraction marketing website, branding you and your business and that offers a value based giveaway for people to opt in to receive information from you. If you have no customized funnel in place to build your MLM online and want to attract prospects to you, now is the time to get one! What does Gary Vaynerchuk have to say about online MLM to Eric Worre?

October 15th, 2009 rhenke Comments

Wow this is MEGA! Gary Vaynerchuk interviewed by MLM pro Eric Worre. This is very good news for integrating attraction marketing with mlm online.

This is the 4th part of the show so make sure to go back and watch all of the interviews with Gary if you love this one! His new book ‘Crush It,’ looks like a good follow up read to Tribes by Seth Godin.

It is a huge turning point in MLM happening before our very eyes. Online MLM is going mainstream with social media.

Eric Worre says that all the top earners have their own brand and in these exciting times we must develop our own Network Marketing brand.

Some of us have been hard at it for quite a while now, developing our MLM brand and MLM niche, but this is great validation for the others who are still wondering what hit them and why everything is CHANGING in MLM.

Listen carefully and even take notes on this one. Gary says whoever doesn’t create their own brand will be extinct.

Of course there are big dangers here.. Gary doesn’t really understand MLM so as I usually bang on about just a little reminder that you need to have a systematic process and MLM customized funnel in place that your team can plug into.

Enjoy and please leave a relevant comment. Let us know your thoughts about this dramatic shift in mainstream MLM.

Are you confused, liberated or what?

MLM Systems and Tools for attracting floods of ‘professional’ prospects to you online

September 25th, 2009 rhenke Comments

Today we’ll continue on the theme of attracting corporate professionals and this huge flood of people coming online looking for a cash flow solution in this new economy.

If you haven’t caught the last couple of blogs about the ‘recession mindset’ for prosperity in MLM, and last week’s tips for attracting professionals to you online then you may want to flick back and read up so you can get the most out of today’s post.

So on to systems and tools that you can use for this very purpose. As the approach to positioning your MLM in this new economy probably needs tweaking to be more effective, so do the tools and materials that you use for introducing them to your business.

The key to online network marketing is to know your MLM niche. Now I’m not going to recommend you go and study niches for months on end and start writing letters to your ideal prospects… but you do need to have a serious think about who you want to attract!

If you try to attract everybody with your MLM online funnel you will often end up attracting nobody!

It depends how you want to play it but let’s imagine that you want to attract some of these high quality candidates from the corporate world who are now coming online in droves to figure out how the heck they can get some security into their life, now their job isn’t looking so stable.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself for starters:

What would they be looking for i.e.; what might they type into google or yahoo?

Where might they hang out online?

Which professional groups or forums may they be a member of?

What sort of interests might they have?

What sort of candidate will be a really good fit for your team?

What sort of candidate will resonate with your MLM product or service?

How can you attract their attention using the materials you have for your MLM?

Next Steps:

Do you see how you can start to connect with the people you want to connect with by putting in a bit of thought here?

The easiest niche to attract is one that you have something in common with so if you were in the corporate world many moons ago, or indeed still are, then you can imagine how these people feel.

Take a little time to explore that and when you develop online content such as a Squidoo Lens, Hub Page, Blog Post, Article or Video make sure you are talking to this ideal prospect of yours. If you know someone in real life who matches your criteria then pretend to be talking to them. (No – Actually go talk to them – what am I thinking?!)

Anyway you get the idea I guess.

As far as MLM systems and tools go it depends how you are placed with your MLM team. Some teams have great ‘third party tools’ (tools that deliver your MLM message instead of you!) but many don’t have anything that you would be proud to show to this type of prospect.

If you don’t have quality online videos and tools, you’ll probably need to develop some tools that talk to people in the voice of this economy. Get together with your team leaders and come up with a plan to create a system that will keep your team focussed on your MLM but give them the tools to be effective online with social sites like Facebook and Twitter.

As I mentioned in my 7 Pieces e-book if you don’t provide the tools for your team to get online they will find themselves in someone else’s list looking for solutions.

That’s okay if you know what’s going on and are using the system too, but in most cases you’ll have no idea where your team members are online unless you are leading them!

It doesn’t have to be that difficult. There is great training available online these days where you can learn exactly how to create fabulous and professional content geared towards whatever your want to promote.

Check out my free e-book, Attraction Marketing for MLM for more details of recommended training and resources, and/or if you want to set up your customized attraction marketing system for your MLM immediately without too much ‘geek speak’ then go here: MLM Online System

If you’ve been reading my blog for some time then you’ll know that I’m a fanatic about recommending you have an MLM funnel or MLM System where you can build your own list of prospects BUT stay focussed on your MLM so please bear that in mind when you make your plan as it will save you A LOT of time.

Affiliate marketing is great and you can make some really good money but unless your system leads into your MLM you won’t be getting anywhere fast with your MLM business!

Have a great day and if you found this post of value please share the love on the buttons below. I welcome your comments and remember that when you make a comment you get a lovely free ‘back link’ to your blog or website, which is like a vote for your site with google. All I ask is that you please make relevant comments that contribute to the blog.

Thank you and have a lovely weekend.

MLM Online – 10 Tips for keeping it simple!

September 7th, 2009 rhenke Comments

MLM Online needs to be kept simple. If you’ve spent any amount of time trying to transition from building your MLM purely offline to getting yourself established online then you’ll know that it can be quite a challenge.

I just want to give you a few tips today for how to do it without pulling out your hair, grinding your teeth right down into your gums or snapping at any family members that may pass by your ‘work from home’ desk!

It doesn’t have to be so painful when you have a clear blueprint to follow so here’s some tips to start you off with a bang this month:

What to do and what not to do i.e.; what has or hasn’t worked well for me!

1) Don’t follow everybody who’s teaching online MLM all at the same time and try to learn from them all at once! You may end up very confused and not know which way to go because there are conflicting opinions about which systems to use.

2) Don’t try to apply Internet Marketing Strategies to your Internet Network Marketing and expect it to perform the same. It is very different and if you try to teach very complicated online stuff to your MLM team you may find them falling very quickly by the wayside. Another thing to beware of is that the guys teaching Internet Marketing often have no understanding of Network Marketing.

Tip: Find a good training platform that you can plug them into to learn social media and attraction marketing that is focused on using the Internet for Network Marketing.
You can tap into my favourite ones in my e-book ‘7 Pieces of the Attraction Marketing Puzzle’ which you can download for free here at the blog.

3) Do find 1 or 2 online Network Marketers to learn from who are teaching AND practicing online MLM. Invest in your own education and apply what you learn. There is no other way to get good at this stuff!

4) Don’t expect to learn online MLM from traditional MLM gurus!

5) Do set up your own blog. I recommend self hosted Wordpress as it’s easy to manage, free but for hosting and you OWN it. This means you have control over it and no one else can mess with your business!

6) Do create your own ‘online real estate.’ A blog is the cornerstone for this. You can also set up Squidoo pages and write E Zine articles which all point back to your blog. This is also known as your ‘web of content.’

7) Do set up a free report or e-book so you can attract people into your marketing funnel and build your own list. Do this YESTERDAY! It’s not a day too early!

8)Do create your own Attraction Marketing Blueprint or business plan and stick with it consistently. If you chop and change and don’t follow through you’ll get nowhere fast. This is usually a form of procrastination so be alert for it and don’t let yourself off the hook!

9) Do create your own capture pages. Ideally you’ll have your photo and an incredible value packed offer to entice your prospects into your list. This is all about branding you and getting the ‘attraction factor.’ People buy from and join those whom they know and trust.

10) Don’t forget about your MLM! That’s why you are setting up online. Build your funnel so that your MLM is integrated into it and you don’t get distracted with the affiliate programs.

There is so much more… I could go on! It’s enough for today though. I hope that helps to keep you on the straight and narrow! If you’d like to cut to the chase and get your own branded MLM Online System set up with a couple of clicks of the mouse go here for more details:

Why Do So Many Global MLM Leaders Not Promote Online Attraction Marketing?

August 7th, 2009 rhenke Comments

It’s an interesting question and one that puzzles and/or irritates many. I could probably write a book about it but the sun is shining and I’m going off on my holidays to Spain in a few days, so today I will share just a few of my thoughts with you on the fascinating topic of MLM leaders.

If you’ve read my e-book 7 Pieces of the Attraction Marketing Puzzle, you’ll know that I’m not ‘new school’ or ‘old school.’ I’m not against any of it, rather I am for a lot of it!

I prefer to focus on the good stuff and leave behind the stuff that doesn’t work for me. I’ve long since quit worrying who approves of what I do or what my upline, sideline or any other line think of it!

I’m having great results building a ‘You Inc’ business and the time is right in my opinion to harness the power of the internet to attract prospects to you.

Some like to do this by using social media to expand their warm market, and then when the time is right they introduce their MLM business.

Others like me focus on giving value through the use of social media and attracting or magnetically pulling prospects into their online marketing funnel.

Others try to automate the entire process which I think works for internet marketing but is a difficult road to take for internet network marketing.

Whatever way we attract prospects to look at our business the bottom line is still that we need to build relationships and get to know people. I just find it a lot more productive to do that by using some automated tools to sort out the real prospects before I invest much time into them.

So back to the question of the day about global MLM leaders and why they so often don’t promote attraction marketing, and are even quite negative about it.

Here are some of my thoughts as to why this is and it may help you to get clear on your position and the road you want to take to expand your business.

There is so much confusion brought about by many traditional leaders being anti online attraction marketing and many ‘new school’ leaders being anti everything else!

Here’s what you may want to consider before you shoot someone down for their position in the old school, new school debate.

1) MLM leaders with thousands of people in their organisations, spanning many time zones, countries and languages cannot lightly change their daily method of operation without affecting all of those people in their downline.

2) Online attraction marketing for MLM is very specialized. Many people will not have the patience or the time to apply themselves to learn how to do it effectively. I believe any one can learn how to do it because we have amazing training available these days, but the reality is that not everyone wants to sit for hours at their computer learning a whole new marketing method.

3) MLM leaders are hesitant of promoting something that they think can cost their downline a lot of time and money if they get it wrong. They often do not understand that there are a ton of ways to generate leads online that cost nothing or if you use a funded proposal such as Magnetic Sponsoring, you can actually get into profit very quickly.

4) Online MLM attraction marketing can be very distracting for those who do not work with a strong team that is focussed on their MLM business. They get online to build their MLM but if they don’t have a system they can end up jumping from one thing to the other, promoting this and that and completely losing their focus on their MLM. Why would a global MLM leader think this is a good idea?

5) Internet and training resources. The online attraction marketing model works fabulously with good training and systems for those in English speaking markets with high speed internet access.

My question to you then is ‘what about the rest?’

If you’re building MLM online and focussed on USA, UK, Canada and Australia then happy days. What if like me and many others you have team members in other countries?

I have downline in Nigeria. The guys in Nigeria have the most amazing entrepreneurial spirit. I still am yet to speak to a prospect who hasn’t read ‘Rich Dad, Poor Dad,’ by Robert Kiyosaki. It’s incredible!

These guys are building business the social, offline way. They love the idea of internet network marketing but the technology over there just does not permit them to attend webinars and access the training sites that one needs to access to understand how to build the business with attraction marketing.

Taking into consideration all of these things I fully understand why leaders in my upline such as Randy Gage and Eric Worre tread carefully with what they promote.

They and many other MLM leaders have an obligation to provide the best training and leadership to build their group in their MLM. This is quite a challenge when you have fast expanding downline in 50 countries!

It reminds me of the famous ‘butterfly effect.’ The slightest flutter of the wings can have huge implications further down the line.

Most global MLM leaders have our best interests at heart and understand that to build a huge group it is best to stick to the core principles and to keep it simple. I don’t buy into all that negative stuff about your upline not telling you this and that! They have nothing to gain by sabotaging you and most of them are doing their best.

Leaders find leaders and many of those leaders will shoot off and create their own systems that suit their style, skill-set and cultural setting.

Randy Gage has a saying about MLM duplication that goes something like this and I paraphrase, ‘a large group of people taking a few simple actions over a sustained period of time.’

Here’s your challenge! If you want to build a global MLM business that throws off passive income for the rest of your lifetime and beyond how are you going to create that type of consistency using the internet?

That’s why I created my own simple marketing system with a step by step process to build a Network Marketing business with attraction marketing, as opposed to just generating a lot of leads online.

I’m incredibly passionate about the opportunity that online attraction marketing presents us with, and if you’re ready to step up and build your business in this exciting way you can read more from me and get access to the resources I use here: Attraction Marketing Free e-book

Just bear in mind if you’re committed to building an MLM business we still need to respect other ways of building the business that work for thousands of people all over the world, and a big tip I’d like to give you is that it is essential to have an effective offline system in place also, if you want to build globally and tap into other markets.

Have a great day and I’ll try and check in from Sunny Spain!

p.s I’ll be officially launching the 7 Pieces Attraction Marketing System for generic use (any MLM) due to popular demand, upon my return. You can check out the details here: 7 Pieces Attraction Marketing System
