There were some interesting comments the other day in response to this blog about MLM Online Systems I wrote.

Vincent was questioning whether as attraction marketers we need to hide our MLM opportunity or whether we can be proud of it.

Knowing when to introduce your MLM is a common concern with the new online attraction marketing business model.

Let’s look at (or remind you of) a couple of things here which I hope will guide you to a good place where you can feel comfortable and focussed about what you’re doing:

1) Always feel proud of your MLM business and don’t be ashamed of that. If you are not proud then I highly recommend having a good long think about why that is. Attraction Marketing is not an excuse to become an undercover agent who never prospects for your primary business unless someone begs to join you!

Jerry made a great comment and has some info on his blog about how to evaluate an MLM, so unless you are doing your business for love alone make sure you are in the right one for what you want to accomplish.

MLM Rockstar, the training audio by Randy Gage is freely accessible on this blog and gives the best overview of how to evaluate an MLM that I have yet to hear. It does introduce his company (and mine) on the back end as an example of a ‘category 4 company’ so only go there if you are open to listen to what’s going on with other companies.

This is actually a perfect example of how someone like Randy Gage gives value and attracts the right people to him. He advocates traditional marketing but notice how he attracts people in a magnetic way even with the old style model.

He does have strong opinions about what he likes in the industry and a very unique training style. It’s also an example of how I introduce an evaluation tool for MLM which works very well for those looking for a change and those new to the industry.

2) When building a ‘You Inc’ business model, your MLM is on the back end and your affiliate programmes are on the front. They sift and sort your prospects to attract quality people to you, and generate cash flow to fund your business.

3) Everything revolves around giving value. Whenever in doubt about what to do with your prospects, especially those who already understand MLM, say to yourself ‘what can I do to give value to this person in their marketing?’ (It could be as simple as sharing the email marketing system you use to build your list) This is not because you are seeking a new role as Mother Theresa either… It is simply the most effective way to do business and fortunately is very enjoyable and you will also be paid handsomely for it.

4) Once you have your customised marketing funnel in place and are giving value through auto-responders, blogs, and consulting with new affiliates, you will have built up sufficient credit with your list to be able to invite them to review what you have going on, where appropriate.

5) Set your customised funnel so that people can find details about your MLM so that if they are in the right place for a new opportunity they can click on your links, connect with you and let you know.

6) When you do a free consultation and assist that person you can ask them towards the end, if they would like to know more about working with your team. You can gauge when to ask this question by the responses they have given you throughout the consultation. (In case you cannot bear rejection!)

Top Tips for switching into the new business model (after years of conditioning in the old.. like me, it is a mindset shift to work on!)

Remember: It is the opposite of chasing, pitching and often repelling your prospects! It is based on having a real business where you are through your own commitment and learning, becoming more attractive to your target market because you have skills that can assist them with their MLM success.

If you are brand new and feel out of your depth that is okay. Just plug in with a training system and start to change that now. Follow your mentor and stick with it. It will be become lots of fun quickly – I promise!

If you feel the urge to pitch someone but have not qualified them as someone who is actually looking for a new opportunity then STOP yourself! Everyone is not your prospect for your MLM – they can seek you out through your marketing funnel, and find you, upon which you can introduce your MLM when/if they indicate interest.

What is amazing about this? 99% of people you speak to will not join your MLM. Get over it! Don’t cry.. it’s just the way it is. Even if they spin you a yarn about thinking it over until next blah blah just count that as a no for now. ‘Forever maybe’ prospects nearly killed me in the past! I don’t wish that upon you so pre-qualify your prospects.

Ok so what’s amazing Rachel? The amazing thing is that now you can make money and build a business relationship with fabulous MLM people even if they don’t join your MLM business now. They will be your wonderful affiliates and you can bless them and assist them with a win-win situation.

Do you really understand how powerful this is? If you do then you are already on your way to building a huge ‘you inc’ automated cash machine I am sure.

If you still don’t get it then there are a couple of things you can do as follows:

I’m sure you’ll agree with me when you get going on the click by click tutorials which actually SHOW you HOW to set everything up online.

In case you are completely overwhelmed and caught like a rabbit in the headlights here’s an action list for you:

1. Log in to your Renegade Professional account.

2. Go to: Start Here Checklist and work your way through. Listen to the different steps about monetization and building a list.

3. Then and this is a biggie: put aside 2 hours to do the ‘Customise your plan webinar.’ Take notes and save the PowerPoint presentation that goes with this so you can go back to it as you progress without having to listen to the whole thing again.

It is looooooong but excellent. Mike Klingler shows you all your options and it is perfect for you if you are just getting started.

Download the ‘90 Day Plan’ and customise it for you based on the webinar. Commit to however many hours per week you can i.e. 10-15 is perfect for starting if you can’t do more.

Schedule your training time and make sure to do the tutorials. There is no way round this. You have to start somewhere to get these skills if you want to market online. Otherwise you’ll be like 90% of the other guys – spamming and tweeting online with no plan and no idea how to be valuable and to turn their skills and list into commissions and team members.

Big tip: If you need help with writing do the ‘Writing with pull’ course sooner rather than later. If you hate writing then look at the video course. You have to do something and when you start it is a lot of fun.

It’s a 3 month learning curve to establish a basic skill set so don’t be afraid of that. If you’ve been in your MLM for 1,3,5 years and still not anywhere near where you want to be then keep that in mind when you do this.

3 months is 3 months (based on 120 hours study/action time so however long it takes you, you can do much faster if you are full time) and you are building a long term asset that is owned by you, revolving round the MLM of your choice. You will not be completely dependent on your MLM Company for your income because you will learn to generate other income which is not in conflict with it.

One final thing…. This is not a magical get rich quick sign up, buy the one book and why doesn’t it do everything for me thing?

You are building a business, whether online or offline; it is not designed to be easy! It is supposed to be challenging or what will you be proud of when you’ve done it?

If you want the benefits of an MLM passive income then you need to get to work, choose your business model and stick with it. Don’t get distracted and don’t buy everything that comes your way as a quick fix solution.

This is not an April fool’s message. This is for real! If you’re building your MLM on the internet (or trying to) there are some things you need to do and some things you need to avoid.

Sounds simple enough but what are these things?

We won’t be going through a step by step training today on how to get your business on the internet and create a magnetic online presence which attracts high quality prospects to you asking for your advice every day… we’ve covered that many times in my blog.

What I would like to do is draw your attention to a pitfall that’s important for you to avoid.

Many of you have seen me transition from talking vaguely about doing the business online, through to being very specific about how to do it.

You’ve probably noticed that there are some specific programmes that I promote. For the last month I have been promoting Renegade Professional in a big way.

The reason for that is TIMING. Click back to my other posts if you want to know more about the launch of Renegade Professional as today the post is not about that either.

I also love to promote Magnetic Sponsoring. The reason for this is not because I love my MLM any less than I ever have. It’s also not because I am distracted from my MLM and have become a teaching guru who doesn’t work in the field.

It is simply because I believe this to be the best way of building your business online. It all works perfectly with the MLM of your choice and offers the most fun, stress-free way of building the business that I have found in 6 years.

6 years is not that long… but let’s face it it’s not that short either! I deserve to find my blissful way to build my business as do you.

So back to the main message of today. When you are choosing your funded proposal(s) and aligning yourself with other organisations that are not directly related to your MLM please do an integrity check.

Do these organisations represent your values? Do you feel you can promote them from the heart? If you are after a quick buck it will show. Never doubt that in this transparent world of social media and web 2.0 your followers, fans, critics and sneezers (your biggest fans who spread your message) can see exactly what you are up to.

So what’s my point? Make sure you set up your attraction marketing cash machine with some thought and critical thinking.

To get real leverage and have commissions hitting your inbox every day even before any one joins your MLM you need to get behind something long enough for people to associate you with it.

I recommend having some key programmes that all work together in your system and lead through to your MLM where relevant.

Remember this new business model is NOT about pitching. You don’t need a funded proposal and online cash machine to pitch. You can do that at the car wash or at the Tesco check out.

Once you have set up your cash machine which can take anything from a couple of weeks through to several months, depending how complex you want it to be, all the lights are green.

You’ll already be making money in your first few days or weeks, depending on where you start. Leads will start to flow as you slot your cash machine elements together.

It all sounds wonderful doesn’t it? And it truly is as long as you follow through and set it up correctly.

The pitfall to avoid in my opinion at all costs is to resist becoming a clone for your new affiliate programmes. In the same way that it is no longer attractive to be droning on about your MLM products or business opportunity all day long, it is also completely unattractive to do the same for your lead generation programmes.

In the Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto, the very controversial Ann Sieg talks of the need to differentiate your self. There is so much truth in this. From her point of view it’s probably better for business if everyone were just to spread her product message.

Fortunately she is practicing what she preaches and providing real value. The value comes in this message and I paraphrase in case you haven’t yet got to grips with the long report: use the basic stuff Renegade provides but get into creating your own stuff ASAP!

That’s a message you don’t hear very often in MLM right? It’s a little shocking hey.
You can actually create your own cash machine and you can do it in a way that is fully duplicatable for those who want to duplicate in a style that suits them.

Yes I know this is a HUGE and controversial topic. Thing is I don’t believe that there is only one way of duplicating. I have seen it in my organisation. There are some who love our traditional system, can’t get enough of it and enrol people every day.

Then there are the others. The ones who can’t quite get to grips with it. It doesn’t quite fit with their strengths or they just can’t bring themselves to talk to the big cheese at work about the benefits of joining the business. They are deathly afraid of rejection.

There is always another way. After just reading ‘Tribes,’ by marketing genius Seth Godin I can see that as I suspected, the new leaders of MLM will be building the business in a new way. To expect new leaders to build in an old way would be odd.

So be mindful of the fact that to do this in a big way the sooner you figure out who your audience is, what your niche market looks like and what your personal message is that is fully aligned with your values, the sooner you will become an online MLM Rockstar.

It’s fabulous to be enthusiastic about your mentors and programmes. Just make sure you’re not singing somebody else’s song all day long. Don’t fall into the trap of being an affiliate or MLM clone!

Sing your own song and mix your melodies up a little! Have fun and if you’re still confused about how to set up your marketing machine so it’s unique to you then I have very good news for you.

I’ve been playing around with attraction marketing for quite some time now and have been very excited by the possibilities it represents. However, for all the very smart concepts around it I’ve also seen a lot of confusion and misunderstanding around it, much of it in my own head!

Recently I decided to approach the new business model full on and to research, analyse and practice it so I can see how it really works, and tie up all the components. Why did I do this? Well several reasons really:

1) I love the idea of having an automated cash machine so that I am building other streams of income that don’t compete with my MLM but allow me to have a cash flow engine on the front of my residual income.

2) I think if we don’t move with the new technology and take advantage of Social Media (Web 2.0) we will be left crying on the sidewalk wondering what happened.

3) All Network Marketing leaders look for ways to help their group to be more productive and profitable and of course if we can make it easier then why not?

4) I have come to understand that if you want to be an effective marketer in any business you must learn to develop your own list of subscribers.

My background is in traditional Network Marketing and I have now been in the industry for 6 years, with 2 different companies. It has been an emotional and exciting journey and some parts of it have been better than others!

On the whole it has been an amazing journey of self discovery, personal development and I have come out the other end as an entrepreneur with a range of valuable skill sets which I don’t think I could have got in any other industry. (Certainly not in my previous roles as a fund administrator, banker and multi-tasking PA) I am thankful for that and to all the wonderful mentors and upline who have helped me to become the person that I am today.

All of that being said the only thing we can really be sure of is that things always change. Why should that then not be the case for Network Marketing? I joined a new emerging company which does things in a very different way to the first very ‘old school’ company which was a giant leap forward for me.

I learned about building culture and duplication in my organisation, and I learned how to leave the old school methods of buttons, flyers, parties and full on selling behind. Phew what a relief!

My new business model has a great training and support system in place that works without me, and also an easy autoship which completely scaled up the way we do business. Gone were the heavy monthly volume requirements along with the frontloading of tons of products for new members to ’sell.’

When I first discovered the ‘7 Great Lies of Network Marketing,’ I found it irritating and enlightening all at the same time. Much of the content rang true with me in relation to the way we did things in my first company.

What irritated me was the way the marketing around the book seemed to lump all companies (even modern ones like mine) into the same old pile of … well if you’re not doing everything online and you’re daring to share something you’re excited about with your friends and family you are old school.

I admit I did not like the message and I even blogged about it at the time. I think it is damaging to the industry to advertise negative messages about Network Marketing companies. I still think that but I also understand that without a little ’shock’ marketing nobody would bother reading it!

Many of the unscrupulous marketers have no clue what the company they are talking about is even doing… never mind how successful your individual sponsorship line may be. So what has changed? What caused me to reassess and actually buy Ann Sieg’s book despite some of the negative publicity around it?

Well I have been using Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring system for quite some time now and I have been very impressed by the products and affiliate programme he offers. I have also made some great commissions on autopilot which gets the vote in my book!

The problem I came up against and I imagine many others come up against is how to actually implement what he teaches into a full and comprehensible step by step business model.

If I was to automate the business and monetize my leads then I needed to find a way to take it to the next level. Enter Renegade University. I initially dismissed this opening door because I presumed that it was a part of Ann Sieg’s system and at that time I wasn’t open to research.

Oh what a mistake! I nearly missed out on what for me has been some of the most enlightening and detailed training about marketing online in one place that I have ever found. Mike Klingler is a gem of a trainer and he understands the need for step by step systems that enable your team members and business partners to go at their own pace.

Why did I go back to ’school?’ Well for the Network Marketer and Home Business entrepreneur school is never out. If it is then we’re in the wrong business!

I’ve found a resource which enables me to learn advanced skills in email marketing, how to generate better performing original web content, how to build my own marketing system, and at the same time enabling me to offer to my current and future team members a way to plug into a comprehensive training system designed for the beginner to learn how to apply the new model of attraction marketing.

All of that then leads into my primary business where appropriate. No begging and no drama. It is a sorting and sifting machine on steroids. I stopped begging a long time ago but I know that many feel that is the position they are in with some of the business models they follow.

This is absolute heaven and very good news for all those leaders who are wondering how to apply Web 2.0 to their business and even more challenging how to teach it to their team! Mike shows you how to implement what you learn and simultaneously produce the content so you are time efficient. It’s a very cool process.
