Attraction Marketing for MLM in the New Economy – Part 4

Creating Your Own Economy

Welcome back to the series. I hope you’ve enjoyed reading as much as I’ve enjoyed writing!

In the last 3 parts we exposed New School and Old School MLM for what it is. We looked at ways to integrate social media with offline marketing and drive prospects to your website. Finally we looked at what it takes to become an Attraction Marketing Rockstar. Scroll back on the blog if you missed any of these articles and would like to catch up.

I always focus a lot on the MLM aspect of Attraction Marketing and building the business because I am aware that people get so side-tracked online with learning the skills for social media and creating content that they sometimes forget what they set out to learn them for!

Today however I’m going to take a more holistic approach and look at what it really takes to work at home and how you can create your own economy in this new economy.

One of the reasons MLM is so great (and it still is no matter what some of the guys trying to get you into other deals might say!) is that anyone can CHOOSE to start their own business for a small investment. In the business world $250-$1000 is a miniscule investment so remember that.

As a result MLM is becoming even more popular than it has been in the past. People that have never considered it before are diving into it in droves because they have finally realized that their job or the government is not going to provide them with the security they crave.

So what does one have to do to create their own economy today?
I have been working from home on a self employed basis for 7 years and now I feel like my day has finally come!

Never in all of those years has it been easier to work from home, with all of the amazing communication tools at our fingertips, so that is the great news for you if you choose to create your own economy now.

Here’s 5 things you can start to do (or continue to do) to get yourself positioned to take advantage of this massive boom towards working at home and creating your own economy.

1) Brand yourself with social media. Start with Twitter and Facebook. Take a course – yes invest in your ‘personal technology.’ To be your own boss you need to provide your own training and buy your own pencils now.

2) Evaluate your skills honestly. Write down all the activities you need to perform to build a successful home based business such as:

Generating leads/prospects
Telephone communication
Person to person communication
Technical Skills
Copywriting skills
Recruiting/Sales skills
Team Building and Leadership skills

Many of the skills you need to work as an entrepreneur are the same in or out of MLM.

Give yourself a score on a 1-10 of what your skill level is in the key areas you need to perform in. Identify your areas of strength and focus on getting even better at those.

Being mediocre in everything doesn’t get us very far. You can outsource the things you are not so good at and improve the things that you want to spend the most amount of time doing.

There are certain skills in MLM that are essential so work hard on yourself to develop those and partner with your mentors to tap into their expertise so they can help you.

In MLM for instance it is essential to develop communication and recruitment skills. The fastest way to do this is to find someone upline from you who is having success and work with them. Introduce your prospects to them and start to model their speech and behaviour.

It doesn’t take that long to see massive improvements in your performance as long as you are taking enough action (online or offline) to get prospects into your funnel.

3) Partner with a successful team of mentors so you are learning and improving your skills every day.

4) Creating your own economy starts with creating your own mindset. The best investments I have made and still make are in personal development programs, books, audio and live events. If you don’t believe you can do it then who is going to believe in you?

Oh and a big tip is don’t just buy them. Read and listen to them EACH DAY! I listen to audio training whilst I drive or do mundane kitchen duties. I actually look forward to doing stuff in the kitchen so I can listen to my latest Tony Robbins, Randy Gage or Joe Schroeder audio.

5) Start to think of yourself as the company. ‘You Inc.’ is so timely now. There are so many opportunities and ways to develop income at home with the internet that really jobs are no longer a necessity. If you like having a job or you depend on the income then look at ways you could start to be an independent or self-employed rep in your line of work.

That will give you more time freedom and put you into the right mindset for being an entrepreneur which ultimately is what you need to become to create your own economy.

Finally my biggest tip for you is to cancel your bad news channel or just don’t watch it! It is a constant stream of information about why you are not in control and cannot create your own economy. As Jim Rohn would say, ‘don’t sign up for that class.’

Top 10 Reasons To Work From Home!

March 13th, 2008 rhenke Comments

1. Freedom

It’s an amazing feeling when you realise that you no longer have to ask permission to go to the dentist! Unless you have experienced the sense of freedom that working from home can give you this may be tricky for you to get your head round. Trust me … you need to try it. Break free and put your plan to Escape the Rat Race together today. There are so many wonderful ways to do it that if you feel like you’re suffocating in the workplace it’s time to go to Plan B.

2. Home and Family Life

You can be there for your family and work your schedule round their very demanding one! It might be young children, elderly parents or perhaps you keep animals. My two children are thankfully very healthy but even so, all children sometimes need to take a day off for various reasons. When I worked for someone else this used to give me stomach ulcers! When we settled in the UK and I discovered how many half-terms and Personal Development days there are I nearly had a nervous breakdown and that’s when I decided to look into working from home.

3. Be Your Own Boss.

The gratification of knowing that you are working hard for your self, not your boss is hard to beat. This is a huge factor in the decision to break free. Many single people don’t need to worry about fitting their schedule round family life but they have other requirements such as wanting to be able to make their own decisions like a grown up. It can often feel like you are a still at school when you need to keep notifying someone else about what you are doing with your time. Being your own boss has its ups and downs but if you’re ready to take responsibility for your own future success then I highly recommend it. You must be self motivated and success minded for this though or you may find yourself becoming a day time soap watching professional…

4. Wake Up When You Are Finished Sleeping!

You can start working when YOU are ready. I used to hate commuting with a passion. I mean really hate it. Now I have time to do a little exercise, perhaps read or meditate early in the morning. Then I walk my daughters to school and settle down with my green tea and laptop. No traffic jams and no stress.

5. Avoid the Nasty British Weather

This may sound silly but I love to avoid the bad weather… Come on let’s face it with the temperamental weather in the UK who wants to have to go out to work in all weathers? Not me anyhow. Unless I have a confirmed appointment I do my work from home on those rainy and windy days, saving my jaunts for the mild days.

6 Work From Home, Not Just At Home

The working at home element is fabulous, and the home-based element means you are allowed to go out and have fun doing your business! My idea of working out of the home these days is attending networking events on subjects of my choice to widen my circle of contacts, or if I’m doing some ‘real’ work I may attend a home business reception for one of my new team members where I sit down and watch a DVD! (Hard labour I think not!)

7 Independent But Not Alone

These days there are so many opportunities to partner with amazing companies with proven business systems, which enable one to be independent and flexible, but to have the training and support to avoid feeling isolated. Let’s also not forget the potential to earn unlimited income with many of these opportunities!

8 Free Of Overheads And No Need To Hold Stock.

This is an incredible benefit when you think how traditional businesses operate. Most new business owners need to be willing to go straight into heavy debt, hold stock, pay staff, premises costs and of course have accounts receivable to keep them up at night biting their nails.

9. Internet Marketing.

The possibilities are endless with the internet and the leveraging of time. I have a mobile paper-free office and can do my business from anywhere. There are so many amazing new communication tools these days – just remember to turn the video camera off when you are working in your pyjamas or having a bad hair day! You can have an international business reaching to almost any corner of the globe. Imagine the possibilities of having a business that operates in different time zones and earns you money while you sleep.

10. Holidays!

Last but just as important! You can book your own holidays in your diary. You can run your own ‘flexi-time’ and work in the middle of the night, dusk or dawn if the fancy takes you and then take the day off in the sunshine (need to make the most of it when it appears!)
